“Wow… I can… see why you three enjoy that…”

“What do you mean by ‘you three’?”

“You, Sini and Epani.”

“Oh.”

It had taken a long time and a lot of alcohol to get this far. Arkay had wanted to claim his prize and Kairos had wanted to just get it all over with, but neither of them seemed to have the courage at first. Even more so as Kairos had made a lot of awkward requests, which Arkay had hesitantly accommodated for. The weirdest of all being that Kairos asked Arkay that they both remain in their godly forms, with Kairos just altering himself to have the right equipment.

Eventually though, after a nice dinner, plenty of drinks, some gentle conversations and a trip back to one of Kairos’s more luxurious palaces, Kairos finally experienced what it was like to be female and, while he’d never admit it out loud, he’d enjoyed it a little too much. It turned out, godly stamina and the ability to have multiple orgasms made for a quite a combination.

That being said, Arkay’s stamina had quickly petered out, the downside of him not having had sex of any kind in about five thousand years, and he’d finished quicker than he liked. To Kairos’s surprise though, Arkay had planned ahead and had pleasured the Time Drake in a myriad of different ways until he was ready to go again. The second time round had left both deities a little too satisfied.

“So… you liked it?” Arkay asked as he awkwardly climbed off of Kairos and removed his condom, before summoning a packet of wet wipes to clean both himself and Kairos up. He started with himself, before delicately wiping Kairos down.

“Yes. Definitely. I don’t know if it is something I would do on the regular with a mortal, but you are very gentle and caring. Very glad I decided to do this with you.”

“Well, you did owe me. You lost the bet.”

“Yes, but you gave me the option of who to sleep with. I could have gone with Sini or Epani.”

“Sini would have torn you in half!” Arkay tutted. “But I did enjoy myself. Even if I struggled to perform a bit.”

“You were fine…” Kairos trailed off, lost in thought. “I do think we should attempt this more often though. Us Gods of Change need to stick together, be more like the Gods of Creation. At the very least, we need to be closer. You need to be closer.”

Arkay sighed, then lied down next to Kairos. Yes, he was kinda lying on Kairos’s left wing, but Kairos didn’t seem to mind. “It’s hard to be close when a. you’re the god of decay and everyone hates you for just doing your job and b. it turns out that your fellow deities have you on a very tight leash. Sure, I’ve been slowly wrangling more power out of them over the last few thousand years, but Epani in particular, she has a problem with me and I don’t know what it is.”

“Doesn’t mean you can’t get closer to me. You know Sini and Epani meet up for casual flings on the regular, right?”

“How regular? Because, technically, our little sessions once every five thousand years could be considered regular in the grand scheme of things.”

“About once a month. Sini insists. She asks me on the regular as well.”

Arkay grunted. “She has asked me too, I’m not interested. Mostly because she wants to give birth to a deity and forgets that she and Epani spayed and neutered me when they resurrected me.”

Kairos sat up and eyed Arkay awkwardly. “Then why did you bother with a rubber? You got extra thick ones as well.”

“When I’m not busy practising abstinence, I like to practice safe sex. Plus, every liquid that comes out of my body is toxic in some way. Didn’t want to take any chances.”

“… Fair enough…”

Kairos laid back down, and both deities fell silent again. Arkay took several deep breaths, while Kairos stared at the ceiling. He had a lot of questions, and this was probably a good time to ask them. Normally, Arkay was a lot more closed up when it came to talking to his fellow deities.

“So… why do you not sleep with mortals again?”

“Because it’s immoral.”

“I bet lots of beings would love to-”

“It’s a power imbalance I don’t like. You can say no to me and not feel coerced in any way, because we’re of equal power. Kinda. Look at it from the perspective of some random Skyan for example. This weird guy who can kill you just by thinking about it wants sex. How do you say no without upsetting the weird guy who can kill you just by thinking about it? Sure, I’m a good being, consent is my favourite thing, but mortals don’t know that.”

“Alright, I can understand that, but what about the four mortals that you accidentally made immortal and can’t actually kill? Or that thousand-year-old Ksithan warlord we put in charge of the arenas?”

Arkay didn’t answer at first. “I… I never considered that. Still would kinda be wrong though.”

“Why?”

“I… I don’t know…” Arkay trailed off, trying to think of some sort of reason.

“What is your deal with that Ksithan anyway? I am certain she’s not immortal for the same reason those four lunatics are immortal.”

“They’re not lunatics…” Arkay frowned.

Kairos smiled. “Rather than running away, they directly attacked the Kinisis’s-skin-wearing Corruption. They’re lunatics. Still, little Phovoula, what is up with her?”

“Well…” Arkay hesitated. “You remember, about a thousand years ago, we were attacked by a Voidborn that stabbed Sini?”

“Yeah… we killed that Voidborn almost instantly though. Epani incinerated them.”

“Deservedly so. Thing is… Sini kinda… like… died briefly. Sure, I took over the control of Life and revived her, but there was about a second where Sini was genuinely dead and I hadn’t taken over yet, and, somehow, in the entire universe, one being was conceived in that brief moment of time…”

Kairos rolled over, eyeing Arkay. He was enjoying having Arkay being this talkative.

“Good thing that we made it so we can seamlessly pass Fundamentals between each other if something bad happens… So, same way the four lunatics can’t die because they died during the brief milliseconds that you were dead, the same thing happened to the little Ksithan? And that has rendered her immortal?”

“She’s not…” Arkay tutted. “She’s not conventionally alive. I guess I’d call it being undead. I keep her protected from Sini because I don’t want Sini trying to replicate the results. Frankly, I’m amazed that Sini hasn’t tried to replicate what happened with…” The Thantophor paused. “I need a better name for my four friends. And no, we’re not calling them the lunatics.”

Kairos let out a small snicker. “It fits.”

“It kinda does, but they are all special.”

“Yes, ‘special’.”

Arkay weakly and somewhat playfully slapped Kairos. “Stop it! I don’t mock your friends… Wait, do you even have mortal friends, outside of the Circle of Thrakian priests and the High Lord of the Spasts?”

“A handful, yes. But being the Dragon God of Time means I have a busy schedule, keeping the Forward Flow running and all that.”

“We spent three hours dining and drinking in order to end up in your bed. You can make the time.”

“True, true. But I am satisfied. More so because I got to spend some quality time with you.”

Arkay hesitated, then looked Kairos up and down. “You really care for me that much?”

“Arkay, we have been connected for three universes now. Sure, you are not here in this universe as willingly as I am, but you have always been the end of my beginning, the final fragment of the Forward Flow, you finish what I start. Of course I care. More than you think.”

“I… I don’t know what to say.” Arkay stuttered. “Maybe… Maybe we should spend more time together…”

“We should. Even if it doesn’t involve sex.”

Arkay smiled, then stretched out and yawned. “You know what? You’re right. Mind if we just… stay here and relax for a bit?”

Kairos pulled the little death god close. “Of course. Whatever you want…”
