“He’s plotting something, I can feel it!” Kairos roared as he swooped around the large, crystal tower, before perching on top of it. “Do you not feel it, Epani?”
The Panelix glanced upwards at the little Whenvern. “Go away.”
“Epani, I am not joking around. I need you to listen to me.”
“GO AWAY!” Epani was not amused. She swung her massive, finned tail at Kairos, swatting him off the tower. “I DO NOT WANT TO TALK TO YOU!”
Kairos righted himself, then hovered awkwardly. He couldn’t quite work out why his sister was so angry with him. “Oh… Wait, I know why you’re upset. We had a fight.”
“A fight?” Epani growled. “You attacked me! You attacked me and destroyed one of my favourite little spots! And now you come to me like the wyrm you are to what? To talk? To ask for my help? Without even an apology?” The Goddess of Space swiped at Kairos, trying to shoo him away.
“Yeah. I kinda did that.”
“Kinda?”
“I did that…”
Epani grunted. “But will you apologise? Oh Whenvern, oh you who can see into the future, can you see the word “sorry” coming out of your own mouth?”
Kairos shook his head, then paused. “That would be a good way to make amends with you, wouldn’t it?”
The Panelix grumbled as she floated off around several other crystalline towers, before returning. “What do you think?”
“Okay, fine. I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have attacked you….”
Epani shrugged. That was as good as she would ever get. “Very well. Apology accepted. For now. And as we are here now, why have you entered my domain?”
“I am so glad you asked!” Kairos exclaimed as he pulled a chalk board out of thin air. “I believe that Arkadin is plotting against us, Epani!”
Epani rolled all four of her eyes. “Not again…”
“What do you mean by that?” Kairos snapped.
“You do this every couple of million years.”
“I do not!”
“Have you ever managed to catch Arkadin plotting anything in the last 13 billion years that he has been a conscious being?”
Kairos hesitated. “No.”
“Have you ever seen him actually plotting anything?”
“No.”
“Have you ever even seen Arkadin consider plotting anything?” Epani continued to roll her eyes. This always happened, Kairos would think that Arkadin had some sort of evil plan up his armoured sleeves and every single time Arkadin wouldn’t actually be planning anything. Just because he was the Lord of Death, didn’t mean Arkadin was evil.
“No.”
“And what proof do you have that Arkadin might be plotting something now?”
“Aha!” Kairos raised his hands into the air with glee. “I have some proof! Firstly, Arkadin has been visiting Yisini again! Secondly, he has been letting mortals step foot within his realms! He is acting different, more social, less insecure. He MUST be plotting something! Probably against u-”
Epani growled as she wrapped her tail around Kairos.
“You done yet?”
“No…”
“Well you are now. I have a suggestion for you. To get off Arkadin’s case. He does his job. You should get back to doing yours.”
Kairos squirmed. “But Epani, he will kill us all one day! I do not want that bastard to-”
“You won’t die. You’re Time Itself. You are the only one who will be spared when Arkadin finally turns. But the more you push Arkadin, the faster you push forward, the faster our ends will come!”
Epani loosened her grip. Kairos rubbed his neck, then flew off, shouting as he did so.
“He’s plotting, Epani! Just you wait and see!”
