General Meeting

Teekay sighed as the doors in front of him opened. To each side of him, lining the marble walls, were members of the Myst and the Fear, the elite warriors of the Vrekans and Rethavok. At the end of the room were two thrones, the Lord-King of the Vrekans in one, the High General of the Retha in the other.

Doing his best to hide his nervousness, Teekay stepped forward, his gun staff held close by his side, his orange glowing energy wings tucked neatly on his back. The elite solders judged him as he walked by, they all knew what he was.

“I see that the All Ksa of the Threavok has sent someone, rather than appearing himself!” the Lord-King exclaimed as he stood forward. “I heard about what transpired in your meeting, and I was not amused. You should be thankful that I was not there. We take cases of sexual harassment and sexual assault very seriously.”

Teekay lowered his head, bowing slightly. “I agree, ser. I agree completely. The All Ksa’s actions were in poor taste. Frankly, I believed the whole ordeal was a mistake, but I realise that the Skyavok cannot continue alone.”

“Who are you, and why are you here, little Skyavok?” the Lord-King asked, making his curiosity obvious.

“I am Teekay, Leader of the K-Class Ksa and General of the Skyavok Military, specialising in the defence of Skyavok Sovereignty.”

“Greetings, Teekay. I assume you already know me, King Ver, and my acquaintance, General Elkay!” The Lord-King was rather welcoming now that he had settled down. “You are here because you were sent, or are you here by your own devices?”

Teekay glanced at the High General, then turned back to King Ver. “Both. All Ksa Kayel sent me to make amends, but I wish to go further than that, I wish to formally begin our re-entry into the Reth-Vrekan Union. Without all that piss that Kayel wanted.”

“Without the desire to create hybrids?” Ver asked.

“Yes.”

“Without attempting to sexually harass-”

“Yes!” Teekay butted in, his frustration building. “You see, Kayel is a fool, but he is a fool with good ideas and a good heart. He is embarrassed and I am covering for him. Which annoys me greatly. I want greatness, both for Kayel and the Skyavok in general, but we need guidance before we mess everything up yet again. That is why I am here, taking time out of my short holiday break to speak to you.”

The High General nodded, smiling just a little. “You need us more than you care to admit. This is a sudden change though. Why are you suddenly rather worried, wanting to push things forward?”

Ver shrugged. “You have a point, my friend. This is a turnaround!”

Teekay sighed. There was a specific reason why he alone wanted to push forward with the Union. But it was an awkward scenario, one that could bring Skyavok weaknesses to light.

“We will not judge you for your change of heart…” Elkay’s voice soothed Teekay ever so slightly. Something about his voice was relaxing. As if he had changed his tone to make Teekay feel at ease. “Talk freely.”

With a final sigh, Teekay began to explain. “Where we live, among the shadows, I believe there is something lurking. Something else that I cannot truly describe or even begin to explain. An evil we cannot truly sense. Something… pushing through.”

“Like what?” Both Ver and Elkay were interested now.

“I… I do not know… All I know is that there’s something moving in at the edges of our territories and it’s not friendly.”

Elkay turned to Ver, then looked at Teekay. “Very well. We shall… consider this.”

“You sure?” Ver whispered.

“Yes. A threat to them is a threat to us.”

“Good point.” Ver nodded his head, then smiled at Teekay as he got up from his throne and disappeared behind it. Eventually he reappeared, holding two large bottles and three glasses. “Thank you for coming so far. Since it’s a long trip back home, would you like a drink first?”

Teekay blinked. “You are offering me an alcoholic beverage?”

“A very nice one, yes. Only the best honey mead, from the farms of Rethiana.”

Teekay shrugged. “Sure. It’s my birthday today anyway, why not have a drink with the two most powerful beings in the Union?”
