“Alrighty, should all be fixed. Gonna take quite a while for the ship to finish its self repairs, but otherwise you’re all good to go!”
“Uh, thank you… You didn’t need to…”
“It’s fine, mate. Least we can do, us Decay Lords gotta look out for each other. See ya round!”
“Uh, bye, thank you…”
Arkay waved awkwardly as the heavy, white and purple Decay Lord lumbered off, taking its tool kit with it. Ever since Arkay had stopped that moon from damaging this Decay Lord pit stop, he had received a huge amount of attention from both the pit stop’s owners and the other Decay Lords that were hanging around. None of it though had been negative, and it had all been… kinda brief. They’d help Arkay do whatever he needed doing, then would gladly leave him alone once they were done.
And every single one of them had just upped and left, wanting nothing in compensation.
“Piss. I didn’t even catch his name…”
With a sigh, Arkay headed back inside the ship. Most of the repairs had been to a strange machine in the Thantir Two’s belly. This machine enabled self-repair, allowing the ship to practically fix itself. But it being damaged meant the rest of the ship was damaged too. Already, with the machine up and running, Arkay could see chunks of the Thantir Two’s chassis and plating slowly welding themselves back together.
As Arkay stepped back inside, he noticed something else was working. The ship’s heating. Finally, the internal temperature was a plenty warm 298K. Warm enough for him to spot Litvir leaving the single observatory they had been keeping warm manually.
“Oh, hi Arkay.”
“Hey, we got the repairy thingy working!” Arkay smiled weakly. “Everything alright?”
Litvir grunted. “Galyn is getting better. Retvik has a concussion. I am tired of Retvik asking me to sleep with him.”
“Uh…” Arkay paused. “Why is he- Oh right. Concussions in Panvok make you horny for some reason… Are you alright though?”
“I assume so…” Litvir tutted, leaning against the wall. “Happy to be warm again. Seems to be very cold outside.”
“Yeah, they don’t have much of an atmosphere at this pit stop, so it’s basically always below water-freezing out there. Everyone’s been really nice and helpful though…”
“Mhm… If you do not mind me asking, what actually happened to that Voidborn? Was it really the same one that attacked us recently with those twisted copies of ourselves?”
Arkay nodded.
“What happened though? Retvik alerted me to their presence and I had no idea what to do so I locked Galyn and myself in the observatory.”
“They were only interested in me.”
“Ah…” Litvir trailed off, then looked Arkay up and down, scanning him with the dull glow of his eyes. “Are you… are you alright, Arkay?”
“Define ‘alright’.”
Litvir grunted. “Do you need to talk, or do you just want to be left alone?”
“I just want to spend like a week asleep, because I feel permanently exhausted, yet no matter how much I sleep, I never get enough of it.”
“When Galyn and Retvik are better, we should suggest that we stay here for a bit. So you can relax. It has been a hectic few weeks, and, despite you being a god, you need to rest as well. Considering how tired I am, with just dealing with Galyn, you must be exhausted.”
Arkay sighed. “I guess. How is Galyn? I… kinda haven’t been keeping track.”
“Up and down, out of his cocoon. Asleep right now.”
“Ah, good… Maybe I’ll take a quick break and make myself some lunch.”
“Want some company?” Litvir asked.
“Yeah, sure, why not…” Arkay shrugged heading down the hallway. “You could do with a break as well…”
