Arkay wandered around his apartment, checking things off in his kind. His costume was done. He had packed food and water. His props were good to go. The light in one of his fake weapons was working fine. The snacks were just waiting for the cold stuff to come out of the fridge. Everything was ready.
Satisfied with his checks, Arkay sat on his bed and stretched out. The only things he needed to do were to put the keys in his bag, but that couldn’t happen until his time to go.
Really, Arkay was quite excited. He was about to head off to the local Comic Con. He got to wear a costume of his favourite video game character. The costume was somewhat recycled from before, bit this time Arkay got to wear the costume for himself. There was so going to be lots of cool and geeky stuff.
But Arkay was also a bit nervous. He had joined mortal comic cons back when he was a death god, but he kinda knew what to expect since everyone present was rather casual, and also everyone was the same species. No one was able to shapeshift at the mortal ones. On the other hand, Arkay was going to a comic con filled with beings of all shapes and sizes. Powerful deities with plenty of time on their hands. Beings who can change their appearance on the spot.
Granted though, in the spirit of the comic con, there was a rule that you had to dress up, simply shapeshifting wasn’t really allowed, but it was a very hard rule to enforce.
But even with the rule, plenty of people would be dressing up for the event. And Arkay had no ides how great (or bad) other cosplayers would be. Still, looking at his handmade weaponry, Arkay was still kinda impressed with himself. He had slapped it all together in record time. Shame that he would only be wearing it for a single day.
Checking his wristband, Arkay wondered what time it was. Arkay wasn’t going to the comic con alone. Kallis and his girlfriend offered to take him with them, since they were going too. Kallis was even going to wear a costume too. This boosted his confidence slightly, since Kallis was going to be wearing a costume Arkay had made in the past. A costume that actually fit him, since Kallis was a bit bigger than Arkay was.
Still, Arkay was surprised that Kallis hadn’t arrived yet. Then again, it was still pretty early. In his excitedness, Arkay woke up much earlier than usual. Kallis had said “9-9:30” and it was only just 9am. That was fine, Arkay was happy to wait.
Suddenly, as if the author wanted to put in a cheap jumpscare, someone knocked loudly on the door. Arkay raced over to sre who it was.
“Kallis!” Arkay exclaimed. “Hiii!”
Kallis nodded. “Hi Arkay, you got everything, you ready to go?”
Arkay beamer. “Yep! Let me just grab the drinks in the fridge and I’m ready to go!”
“Alright, mate, you get those drinks, and we can get going.”
“Yay!”
