Yisini patted the head of the closest Temthan. It had been yet another night of orgies and sleeping, and Yisini was still deeply enjoying all of this worship.
“Yes, my Goddess?” The Temthan looked up at her, drool dripping from her mouth. “Did you want something?”
It took a moment for Yisini to remember the Temthan’s name. “Uh, Agapia, no, I was just patting you because I like you. You go back to sleep, dear.”
The Empress of the Thanatians did as she was told. Something about the Temthans in general made Yisini like them more than everything else. If only every species were like the Temthans, laid back and united in love and worship.
“Allbirther…” Agapia whispered. Yisini nearly jumped, she’d thought the little Temthan had actually gone back to sleep already. “What are you thinking about?”
An innocent question. “Oh, nothing.”
“Please, my Goddess, tell me. I’d love to know more about you…”
The Goddess of Life hesitated for a moment, then shrugged. “Sure. Can’t hurt. I was just thinking about how awesome Temthans are. You got yourselves sorted out. You’re all happy and you fuck all the time and you have a booming population. I wish everyone was like you.”
“Really?” Agapia wiped the drool from her mouth and grinned. “That makes me ever so happy.”
“Well it should!” Yisini patted Agapia on the head again. She was pretty sure the Empress had taken a huge amount of… natural remedies… before tonight’s orgy. She seemed to like being high when not on duty.
“Is that…” Agapia’s words trailed off. She’d fallen asleep then swiftly woken up again. “Is that why you came here? To help us spread our bliss?”
“Uh…” It was Yisini’s turn to trail off. But not because she was falling asleep, but because she’d forgotten. “Oh yes. That was my original plan. Get you guys all happy and help you spread yourselves. But let me tell you a secret, little one, there’s no hurry.”
Agapia yawned. “No hurry?”
“We’ll spread our love eventually. I was going to take this whole thing seriously, spend days helping you plan attacks and invasions and sending out missionaries and all that, but eh, who cares? You can’t force people into liking what we all like, right?”
“Attacks? Who said anything about that?”
Yisini sighed. Her little friend was more asleep than awake.
“Don’t even have a real army.”
That statement brought a smile back to Yisini’s face. “Oh yes. I love how you have massive bio-engineered monsters rather than wasting resources on a standing army. That’s how everyone should do it…”
After a moment of silence, Yisini lowered her voice again, pulling Agapia close.
“You know what, my darling?”
“What, my goddess?”
“This is all dumb.”
Agapia rubbed her eyes. “What?”
“You see, my mum basically said to the four of us to go and make some little empires and whoever had the biggest without causing any mass extinctions would win. But I don’t really care, this is an excuse for me to get to be with things I made. Because I love making things.”
“And you love fucking things…”
Yisini nodded. “I do, I do.”
“So…” Agapia yawned and stretched out her arms, then cuddled up closer to Yisini. “You… don’t want us to grow as an empire? Spend time expanding our territories?”
The Allbirther petted Agapia on the head. “No, my angel. We’ll just take things slowly and enjoy ourselves. After all, that’s the whole point of life. To procreate and enjoy life as much as we can…”
