A Moment’s Rest From Moving

Arkay wiped the sweat from his face, then sat down on the single chair he had just carried into his new apartment. It was a small place and half his furniture hadn’t arrived yet, but it was still Arkay’s new home. He was finally going to have his own place, a place all to himself.

Currently though, everything was a big mess. Well, not so much a mess, more a disorganized pile of boxes that hadn’t been opened yet. Since Arkay was missing his larger furniture, he didn’t really have anywhere to put anything. Heck, he didn’t even have a bed yet. Arkay was also worried that he wouldn’t have enough room for everything, since he was supposed to be taking some of Kallis’s furniture until he was able to sell it all. While Arkay did have one set of shelves and a small wardrobe, he needed to see where the rest of his furniture would go first.

What made things more difficult was that Arkay was moving into a low-power area. Which meant he couldn’t use his Life Goddess powers to move everything around. Arkay was instead moving things by hand. Luckily he was quite strong and managed to move most of his stuff himself, but, again, he needed help with the big stuff. Mostly because it was too cumbersome to move up a set of stairs. Arkay was living on the second floor. Thankfully there was a lift, but the larger stuff would probably have to be carried up the stairs.

As to why Arkay was going through all this? It was mostly because of the agreement that Arkay had signed. He basically agreed to live in a quiet, peaceful area, which meant using powers, Life Goddess powers or otherwise, wasn’t really allowed. But at the same time, Arkay was getting cheap rent, a great location and all the peace and quiet he could have ever wanted. All to himself. Sure, getting the utilities installed had cost Arkay a lot more than he had intended to spend, but it was all for a good cause.

No more sharing, no more regular check-ins, nothing like that. Just Arkay and his new apartment. On his own, working in his own time. Just thinking about it all made Arkay feel a little giddy.

He still had a lot to do though. While his own bedroom had been done, Arkay still needed to move his bathroom and kitchen stuff. Which was a tad complicated because Arkay didn’t know where to put it all. After all, Arkay’s new apartment was pretty small. It was just the one bedroom. Things looked okay currently, because he hadn’t moved his furniture, but things were likely to get tight once the furniture was moved in. He was taking two sofas, a new bed, his fridge and washing machine. Which didn’t seem like a lot, but Arkay wasn’t sure. He also needed to know where to put his desk, which he also hadn’t moved yet.

Right now though, Arkay didn’t really care. He was just happy to be in his own personal space. With a smile and a sigh, he leaned back, taking in the view of his new little apartment.
