Seimeni’s eyes lit up in awe as she tiptoed across the luxurious oasis, taking in the sights. The floor was made of soft yet solid clouds that tickled the feet as one walked. There were not one but five different swimming pools, two filled with honey and wine, one filled with warm, bubbling water and the last two water pools connected by a gently flowing river drifting between them. Loungers had been positioned around all the pools, as well as heated towel racks, which instantly tried wet towels. There was plenty of other seating too. In one corner, there were standard benches, tables and chairs, in a more restaurant-like layout. In the opposite corner, a massive pile of cushions and bean bags had been laid out.
Small, mushroom-shaped hotel rooms were scattered around, floating gently and anchored to the clouds. Finally, an overflowing self-serve bar sat at the centre of it all, providing food and drink to anyone who asked.
“So, what do you think?” Kinisis asked as she finished wiping down a counter in the bar area.
“It’s… you built all of this yourself?” Seimeni beamed. “This is all amazing!”
“Thank you, dear, I appreciate that!” Kinisis smiled back, examining her work. After a moment of thought, she summoned a small, plastic controller and started fiddling with it. “Hm, what colour of lighting do you think has the best atmosphere?”
“Lilac and pink, I guess?” Seimeni suggested, after a little thought of her own.
Still smiling, Kinisis took Seimeni’s suggestion and applied it to the floating crystals that acted as light sources. Satisfied with the warm, chill mood the colours had set, she turned her attention to the young Life Goddess.
“So, Seimeni, any reason why you’ve stuck around?”
The question caught Seimeni off guard. “Uh… what do you mean?”
“I thought you were going to go off and do Decay Lord stuff for a bit?”
Seimeni smirked, somewhat awkwardly. “Well… I did get distracted by a good amount of… dragon dick. I assume it doesn’t bother you that I’m dating Kairos? He’s not your son, right?”
“Kairos is a grown up dragon, you two can do what you want!” Kinisis tutted. “But I did kinda expect you to get bored and leave, as you tend to do. You’re not like your mother, who just jumps straight in to a new universe.”
“You’re not either…” Seimeni shrugged. “I thought you’d be making plans for a new universe right away, yet here you are, building a Life Oasis.”
The Allmaker frowned. “Well… you are right. The thing is, my universe is… still here. I don’t want to abandon this one until it’s fully dead, you know? But with the kids in charge, that won’t be a while, so I decided to set up shop. After all, there are basically no Life-destinations around here at all. Especially since a bunch of Voidborns blew up the two that WERE here…”
“Speaking of which, how are you going to keep this place protected? After all, you just said the last two got blown up!”
Kinisis’s smile returned. “Oh, I have a plan.”
“What is it?”
“It involves the local Decay Lords. There are only a handful left, but I am pretty sure they would like a base for their operations. They give me the security I need here, and I give them the space they need to rebuild their base.”
“You gonna rent them office space in return for security duties?” Seimeni exclaimed. “That’s… genius. Why didn’t I think of that?”
Kinisis continued to smile, then poured a bright, colourful drink for both herself and Seimeni. “I’m amazed I didn’t think of it sooner.”
“So… who are you hiring?”
“Take a guess.”
Seimeni paused, then shrugged, realising who Kinisis was talking about. “It’ll be nice to see that flaming hunk again. But what about-”
“Already dealt with, apparently.”
“How so?”
“I’m not sure. I’ll have to ask them when they get here…” Kinisis trailed off, then raised her glass. “In the mean time, here’s to a nice, new Life Oasis!”
“Cheers!”
