Arkay bounced up and down somewhat excitedly as he knocked on the front door. This section of Deathven had been made in the form of a small, thrope-like road, with houses running down each side. Each of the houses were rather individual, made from the same concrete, wood and glass, but in a different way. The house Arkay was waiting outside of was also very unique, a one-floor plan with a garage built for one vehicle only.
After a second knock, Arkay spotted movement inside, behind the door. A tall shadow, its image warped by the frosted glass on the front door. After a couple of clicks, the door opened up, revealing who was inside.
“Hi Velas!” Arkay beamed, still bouncing slightly before giving Velas a massive hug. “I made it!”
Velas smiled, hugging Arkay back then pulling him inside. “You did. I’m happy to see you!”
“Oh me too!” Arkay stopped bouncing, then threw himself into another massive hug, complete with a friendly lick on Velas’s cheek. “I’m glad to be here. The trip is never fun but it’s worth it, everything is better when I see you!”
“Definitely.” Velas licked Arkay back, then pulled the front door shut, locking it as he always did. “Was the trip not too bad at least?”
“It was fine, I guess.” Arkay’s enthusiasm seemed slightly off. “It’s all better now though!”
Velas smiled some more, then lead Arkay inside, through the living room and down the main hallway, closing each of the doors behind them. They went to the furthest room in the house, a place that Velas called “the cave”. His personal bedroom and living space, set up with a TV, video games and far, far too many board games. Everything was rather dimly lit, creating a unique but dark atmosphere.
“Oh, what game are you playing?” Arkay asked as Velas sat back in his gaming chair, controller in hand. He then snapped his fingers, and a second chair appeared next to him, for Arkay to sit on.
“Hitman,” Velas replied. “You have to murder them stealthily.”
“That sounds fun!” Arkay couldn’t stop smiling. “Is it good?”
“Very good. I would recommend it. Would you like to try it?”
Arkay shrugged as Velas handed him the controller. “Sure, why not! I’m not very good at playing games though.”
“You will learn quick.”
Arkay took the controller, inspecting it and pressing the buttons, so he could see what each one did. After some experimenting, Arkay worked out how to move around and switch between his items. But the objective showing Arkay what he needed to do was very far away. And, for reasons unknown, Arkay decided to crouch-walk all the way, wandering through grass. But as soon as Arkay reached his destination, he pressed the wrong button, instantly alerting all the enemies in the area.
“Hm… I’m not great at this…”
“It’s okay, we all suck at first!” Velas took the controller back and put it down in front of him. “So, do you want to learn this game, or do you want to do something else? It IS your day, after all.”
Arkay thought for a moment, then grinned, licking Velas’s cheek again. “Heh, I think we both know what we want…”
