Confusing Argument

“What do you mean, you want to leave?”

Kuta was somewhat surprised by how Litvir was acting. He thought Litvir would have been fine with Kuta’s choices. But he seemed rather against Kuta’s ideas.

“I want to have a normal life for a bit. What is wrong about that?” Kuta had repeated what he originally said a few times. “You know, have a job, have a partner, have kids…”

“You have never wanted those things though!” Litvir was being very snippy. “You wanted to go on adventures with me. We were going to be a tag team of sorts. We were-”

Kuta crossed his arms. “I changed my mind. I want to have a normal life, while I have the chance! Brother, you do not understand how I feel. If I am just going back into basic job stuff, I do not want to do it here with all these… weird deities coming and going.”

“That makes no sen-”

Before Litvir could argue further, he felt a hand on his shoulder. A very warm hand.

“What is going on here?” Retvik asked. “Is something going on?”

Kuta was about to speak, but Litvir started talking first.

“He wants to go and live a normal, boring back inside that damned universe!” Litvir hissed.

Retvik though simply shrugged. “I can see why Kuta would want that.”

Both Rethans gasped, not expecting Retvik’s answer.

“You… do not have a problem with… any of this?” Kuta stuttered. “Like, I never got to do that sort of thing.”

“You should give it all a try then.”

“Really?”

Retvik nodded. “Of course. You spent goodness knows how long in a matrix thing. I assume you never got the chance to live a normal life.”

Kuta turned to Litvir. “See! Retvik agrees! I want to live my life! Not spend it being a butler or whatever for a bunch of godly beings who are just here to get their recreational drugs of choice!”

“But, but…” Litvir was not at all happy. “You said you wanted us to work together, Kuta. Rekindle our siblinghoods. Be the tag team partners you always wanted us to be.”

“Well, Litvir, I changed my damn mind! Am I not allowed to do that? It is not even going to be permanent!”

Litvir paused. “It will not be permanent?”

“No.”

“Oh…” Litvir deflated a little. “How long will it be?”

“I do not know. However long it takes to get a job, make new friends, fall in love and maybe have a kid with someone.”

“Oh.”

The three Rethavok fell silent, none of them sure what to say. Litvir eventually broke the silence.

“I humbly apologise, Kuta…” Litvir sighed. “The way you spoke, I thought you would be going away forever.”

“No, not forever. I just want to be normal for a bit. I am sorry for not being clear.”

“I understand now… And I apologise for taking my anger and confusion out on you.”

Retvik patted both Kuta and Litvir on the shoulder. “See, we can work things out a lot easier by being civil. When do you plan on leaving, Kuta?”

Kuta shrugged. “I have to speak to the Panelix and the Allbirther, get an agreement from then. Might take a few… weeks, I guess. But I also need to pick out a replacement for myself.”

“Do you need some help with that?” Retvik asked.

“I guess… Kinisis made a list or something.”

Retvik smiled calmly. “Well, then, let us sit down and work this out together. It should not take too long…”
