“I do not remember there being so many corpses around here…”
The Dessaron landed on a patch of dirty grass, not too far away from the villa. Despite the floral aromas, everything looked like it dead dead or dying. Around the edge of this floating island was a wall of Voidborn shells and armour, left in tattered heaps, some of them still dripping with golden fluids.
“How many corpses did you expect?” Phovos asked. “Were these all-”
“Arkidetelos killed them…” Retvik already started exploring. “The monster just ravaged through this horde. Even though most Voidborn are, well, villain-y, these ones did not deserve being torn limb from limb.”
“There must be more than a hundred bodies here!” Tenuk exclaimed, looking a tiny bit concerned. “Did he really kill all of them?”
“I assume so. Kuta, Litvir and I did not participate in the killing, we were just trying to work out how to get Arkidetelos to turn back into Arkadin.” Retvik frowned, then tried to change the subject. “There is little else around here aside from the villa. We should go and inspect it.”
“Sure thing!” Elksi beamed as she pranced her way to the front door. Weirdly, it was locked, but the glass panel in the door had been smashed, rendering the lock pointless.
Inside, things looked a little bland. Large rooms but little in them. It was as if someone had already ransacked the place and taken anything of value. However, the elevator in the middle of the main room was mostly untouched. Clearly whoever had been here had also been unable to break the Life Goddess’s security systems.
“Someone has certainly been here already…” Retvik grumbled. “These rooms used to be decorated with a lot of glimmering materials.”
“You think that elevator might do anything?” Elksi asked.
“It led up to some gardens, as far as I can recall. The previous owner did not allow us to go up the elevator, although she did take Arkadin with her on a brief tour.”
Out of curiosity, Phovos examined the elevator. There was a small panel on one side, with a handprint of some sort on it. Phovos glanced down at her own hand, then decided to interact with the panel, placing her hand on the handprint. Suddenly, something creaked, and movement could be seen, with the elevator slowly descending, before coming to a stop.
“I didn’t think that would work…”
Tenuk patted Phovos on her back. “You’re a Life Goddess, whether you like it or not. Should have you trying to open things more often.”
The elevator doors slid open, and inside was another similar-looking console, with some numbers on it.
“Should we all go upstairs?” Tenuk asked. “Or does someone want to stay down here and keep watch?”
“I can stay!” Elksi offered herself up. “I’m sure there is something down here we can steal!”
Retvik sighed. “I will stay down here too. Better safe than sorry.”
“Alright!” Tenuk beamed as he pulled Phovos into the lift. “See you in a bit!”
