“You’re going out again?”
“Yeah, of course!”
“But you just got back?”
Kalis was holding a wicker basket, standing cheerily by the door. In the basket, there was a bottle of wine, as well as some cheeses and hams. It all looked rather tasty to anyone who liked to drink.
“I know, I’m going out to see Stef again.”
Arkay blinked in confusion. “But you just got back from seeing Stef. Or were you out doing something else?”
Kalis smiled. “We went to the beach. Now I’ve had a quick shower, I’m off to see her again and take this basket over as a surprise. Because Stef loves surprises!”
“But… you just…”
“Got back, yeah. Bet you’re enjoying having the house to yourself, right?”
“I… I guess…” Arkay sighed. “Weren’t you also going to do something with your cat?”
“That’s some other day. Today we’re having treats and going to chill and watch TV. We started watching the West Wing. You know that, right?”
“I’ve watched the West Wing, yeah, I watched it with Kinisis back when I was a lapdog.”
“Yeah- wait, lapdog?”
Arkay nodded. “I haven’t always been an armoured lizard. At one point, I was an armoured wolf and mostly treated as a pet. But isn’t the West Wing like… seven series?”
“Yep.”
“And you’re watching the whole thing with Stef?”
“Yep.”
“All seven series?”
“We’re seven episodes in. I forgot how great the early series were. Heck, all the series are good.”
“Fair enough…” Arkay sighed. “I guess I’ll feed the cat then. Are you coming back today?”
“Probably not.”
“Should have guessed…” Arkay frowned. “Kinda miss you sometimes.”
Kalis’s smile dropped. “Are you okay?”
“Not really, I’m not feeling great today. But don’t let me stop you from having fun with Stef. I’ll just keep to myself here.”
“That reminds me, I want to bring Stef here at some point.”
“Do you want me to bugger off for a day?” Arkay immediately asked. “Keep out of your way?”
“If you could, that would be great.”
Arkay sighed again. “Alright. Just let me know how long you need and when I can come back.”
“Speaking of which, before I go, do you have any plans for tonight?”
“Videos and maybe some gaming…” Arkay shrugged. “And probably some sleep as well. I always seem to need more sleep. Can’t get enough of it.”
“Hm…” Kalis hummed to himself. “Maybe you should see a doctor.”
“I already do.”
“Oh.”
“Yeah..” Arkay sighed some more, then straightened himself out. “I’m sorry, I’m dragging you down. I’ll be fine after a little walk or something. You go and have fun with Stef.”
“Oh yeah, speaking of which, it’ll just be you going to the guys tomorrow. Me and Stef have plans.”
Arkay blinked. “You’re not coming? But you were supposed to be the game master.”
“Yeah but Stef’s best friend is going to be throwing a party because she got engaged, so we’re going to celebrate with her.”
“Oh. Alright.”
“Anyway, I gotta go!” Kalis perked up. “See you tomorrow!”
“Alright, see you. Say hi to Stef for me.”
“Will do!” Kalis beamed as he headed outside. “Will do!”
