Materials and Headaches

It is not a problem, Letharus. We will get what you need, and we will head down to your location as soon as possible.

“Thank you so much.”

“No worries. We will speak soon.”

Retvik put his communicator down, then got up from his office chair. The Missing’s office was rather empty today, as a void storm had passed through the Athata Rift, giving most of the local telepaths a headache. Litvir and Kuta in particular weren’t doing so well and were trying to sleep the pain away, but most of the folks that had telepathy as a main power weren’t doing too well currently.

As Retvik made his way to the main outdoor areas, he looked around to see who was available. In the blink of the eye, Arkay appeared, asking Retvik what was wrong.

“You look concerned.”

Retvik nodded. “I am somewhat. Arkay, do you mind keeping an administrative eye on Savepoint for a few hours?”

“I mean, yeah, sure, but why?”

“Litvir’s friend Letharus need some help with something, Apparently he is nearby and his ship is damaged, so I am taking a handful of vok to go and help him.”

Arkay thought for a moment. “Who is Letharus again?”

“Do you remember, the first time we fought Theocydes? He had three underlings, which-“

“Oh! I remember now! Yeah we should probably go save him.”

Retvik tutted. “You need to stay here and keep an eye on Savepoint, as Litvir is ill currently. Which of the mechanics is least headache-y?”

Arkay glanced around. “Uh, probably Kaytee. Teekay’s completely out of it. But you should take someone with telekinesis or something, so you can stabilize their ship.”

“Hm, good point. But you do need to be in the office.”

“Sure thing!” Arkay beamed, before disappearing in a cloud of smoke.

With a grunt, Retvik walked around, looking for Kaytee. He turned out to be sitting in the canteen area on his own. Kaytee had the second weakest telepathy among all the telepathic armoured guys, and he seemed fine. Before Retvik spoke to Kaytee though, he noticed someone else approaching.

“Oh, hello, Kyr Retvik!” Ret smiled as he appeared from the kitchen, holding many bottles of water.

“Hello, Ret. Are you busy currently?”

Ret shook his head as he handed Kaytee a bottle of water. “No, not really. I cannot do much to help with all the headaches. I was just fetching some drinks for the others.”

“Ah, good. Kaytee, are you busy?”

“Nah. Got a bit of a headache but no worse than anyone else. You want me and Ret for something?”

“I do, yes. An ally of ours, they were attacked and both their ship and the place they are parked at are damaged. I want to-“

“Who’s the ally?” Kaytee immediately asked. “It ain’t one of the Ventra guys, is it?”

“No. It is our old friend Letharus. He mentioned he was out travelling and exploring and planned to visit the Kinigian Wilderness, but I assume he got sidetracked.”

Kaytee had more questions. “Is Letharus that Rethan-like guy who looks a lot like a good-guy Litvir and you all got drunk and had a threesome with him in the after party when Elkay and Teekay got married?”

Retvik eyed Kaytee briefly, then sighed. “Yes, that Letharus.”

“Ah. Cool. So why do you need Ret and I?”

“Letharus said that he is not harmed, but apparently three Voidborns attacked both his ship and the place he was parked at. However, they are low on supplies and the place is badly damaged, including the device that automatically repairs one’s ship. I offered to head to a nearby pit stop so we can buy what Letharus needs to repair his ship, and Letharus also requested we get a few other bits.”

“Is it all urgent?” Kaytee asked.

“Everyone there is apparently fine, they just want us to check the place over for Voidborn nonsense, and to bring supplies. to help them get back on their feet. I also offered to bring someone with relevant powers to assist in fixing things.”

Ret thought for a moment. “I suppose my gravity powers could be helpful… Can I give these bottles of water to my friends and then come back here?”

“Of course.”

Ret plodded off, taking the pile of water bottles with him. Retvik took this as a chance to speak to Kaytee.

“Why are you not with the other Skyans?” Retvik asked.

“Didn’t want to be there. Eksi is being a bitch and I’m not interested in that right now. Kayel and I don’t have massive headaches, and they don’t need me there, since Tanos, Ret and Nyssi are helping them. Plus, we all sometimes need time alone, right?”

Retvik shrugged. “Understandable. Are you well enough to pilot a ship?”

“Yeah, sure. What direction are we going though? Because the void storms outside the Athata Rift are not fun to fly through.”

“The void storms have gone north. We are going south, to the Ventra Expanse.”

“Oh!” Kaytee perked up. “I heard it’s nice and quiet there. Particularly dark and crisp.”

“What is dark and crisp?” Ret asked as he returned to the table. “Also, why did you need me?”

“You are good at moving things, but your earth-shifting powers might come in handy as well.”

Ret blinked. “Am I a better choice than two of the little Cleansers?”

“Unusually, they all seem to have headaches as well.” Retvik explained. “But it is important that we get these supplies and head out to Letharus’s location as soon as possible.”

“Alright!” Kaytee beamed. “Let me put some armour on, and let me grab my old Voidborn detection device. I’ll have the Thantir Three ready in an hour, and we can take some of the wood and metal left over from the Vohra’s little boat project.”

Retvik turned to Ret. “You go and put some armour on, then start moving the leftover materials into the back of the Thantir Three. I need to tell everyone else what is going on.”

“Is Litvir awake then?”

Retvik grunted. “Sadly, no. But Arkay is keeping an eye on things. Either way, I shall see you both in an hour, by the ship.”

“Sure thing, boss!”
