Operation Afterthoughts

“Hey Volt!” Wukong waved as he entered the dojo. “Long time no see!”

Volt tutted as he adjusted the plants in a small Orokin planter, not really paying attention. “Hi Inaros.”

“I’m Wukong.”

“Oh.” Volt turned to Wukong, rubbing his two pairs of neural sensors. “Sorry about that. Been an utterly hectic month. What have you been up to? Aside from ditching Inaros for the Monkey God?”

Wukong waved again, just as a random Tenno appeared. A bright pink Rhino walked up to one of the trading terminals, did a trade with Wukong then promptly vanished, but not before muttering something about how the dojo looked nice. This pleased Volt, especially since he had spent the last hour decorating the main trading hub.

“Nothing much!” Wukong explained. “Grinding for mastery. It’s going well, if I don’t say so myself! Also helped a little with the whole Murex thing, but frankly… that wore me down a bit.”

Volt grunted, leaving the planter to sit down at some of the large benches he had recently set up. “Ugh. Scarlet Spear… It’s only been a few hours since Little Duck gave the all clear and I still don’t think I’m over it. So many Condrix. I can still hear the sound of a defeated Condrix screaming and flying off. And don’t get me started on those fucking Battalysts!”

Wukong joined Volt at the bench, tapping the table. Being a Warframe, the sound was rather metallic and clang-y. “How many missions did you do?”

“As many as I could. Mostly ground support. I have no damn idea how many kill codes I sent. And how many younger Tenno I ended up helping. Ran into a lot of nice people, but also a lot of people who needed help. Didn’t feel like it was enough though.”

Wukong shrugged. “We all did what we could. Little Duck says we all did well and that we’ve chased off the Murex for now. And I got a ton of arcanes from it all.”

Volt suddenly sat up straight, staring at Wukong. “Fuck.”

“What?”

“FUCK!”

“WHAT?”

Volt slammed his hands on the table, then put his head in his hands, cursing loudly. “I forgot to spend my fucking credits! The last of them, at least!”

“How many credits?” Wukong asked.

“Not a lot, but I was going to finish off my Arcane Healing and Resistance…” Volt sighed, before picking himself up and calming himself down. “I feel extra stupid because I sat in a Flotilla for like twenty minutes after the last Murex were driven off. Oh well. Not much I can do about it now…”

Wukong simply shrugged. “Doesn’t matter. You saved the solar system!”

“A lot of us did. Hard work, breaking Condrix and chasing off Murex… But it’s all temporary, they’ll be back. They’ll definitely be back to try again. Fucking Sentients won’t stop until we’re all dead.”

“Yeah, but for now we’re safe.”

Volt sighed. “I guess. But whatever happens, I don’t want to see another Limbo for a long, long time…”

“Fair enough…”

The two Tenno fell silent, staring at the decorations that Volt had been setting up. After a while, Wukong got up and headed to a nearby transporter. There were many of these scattered around the dojo, allowing transportation across the massive facility.

“So, do you want to do anything?”

“Like what?” Volt asked.

“Relics? I bet you’ve got a lot of them right now.”

Volt nodded, perking up. “I’d love that. Let’s go open some relics…”
