Yisini clapped her hands together with glee as Kenon and Epani both sat down at the table. The room was very gaudy in its decorations, with false gold pillars in every corner and a fountain of wine in the room’s centre. The table was overflowing with food and drink, all cut or moulded into vaguely erotic shapes. However, this was all pretty standard for Yisini. The real example of glamour was how she’d brought in a large statue, carved out of chocolate, in the shape of a wyvern.
“My fellow deities! I bring good news!”
“Is it about Kairos?” Epani immediately asked.
Yisini nodded, smiling. “Of course! I’ve been chatting with our brother and he is coming back!”
Epani frowned. She was clearly not amused at all. “When and why? I thought we were supposed to discuss these things together? That was the deal.”
The Allbirther’s excitement faded slightly. “Well… I did mention it to Kenon…”
“Lies…” Kenon muttered. “You never said anything about actually bringing Kairos back…”
“Well I’m telling you all now!” Yisini exclaimed, trying to calm the situation. “Epani’s struggling with dealing with the Allmaker and death stuff and I’m having no fun at all being a Time Drake. So I bring Kairos back, Epani can do the Allmaker stuff and space stuff, Kairos can handle time stuff and I’ll handle life and death under one umbrella!”
The Voidlord grunted, unamused by Yisini’s explanation. “Why are you not involving me in any of this? I am perfectly capable of doing godly duties. I am just as powerful and capable as you all are. I mentored you all, after all.”
“Yeah but…” Yisini shrugged, her tail coiling around the chair she was standing on. “Well… no one actually trusts you. Like, at all. Kenon, you’re okay, but you’re a Voidborn and our universe got nuked by Voidborns and, well, honestly, none of us trust having you hold any sort of real power. The politics you play with mortals is probably a little too much power anyway, we can’t give you more.”
Kenon grunted some more, but he eventually backed down. “That is… understandable. I had hoped that maybe I had won back your trust-”
“You tried to kill us and replace us like a year ago because Kinisis briefly exiled you!” Epani interrupted. “You will not get divinity from myself nor Yisini.” With a snarl, Epani turned to Yisini. “As for you, I do not like you going over my back. I am the Allmaker here, not you. Bringing Kairos back here, without informing me, has made me rather angry.”
Yisini immediately backed down, making herself smaller in Epani’s presence. “I’m sorry, sister… You just seemed so stressed out… And you seemed so much happier whenever Kairos was around to take some weight off us. I wanted to make things better.”
“I appreciate the sentiment, but you should have told me!” Epani snapped. But after a moment of thought, she calmed down a little. “It will be nice to see Kairos though. When is he arriving?”
“He didn’t give a definite date. He’s gotta cut ties with the Decay Lords he’s working with first.”
“Ah.” Slowly, Epani began to smile. “This might be good for us. But are you sure you want to handle life and death at the same time?”
Yisini nodded. “Of course I do! It’s perfect for me! If I’m maintaining life and death, I can work towards ending one and making the other permanent much easier!”
“Very well…” Epani sighed. “We will go ahead with your plan. But we all need to keep an eye out on each other. This is a big shift of power and responsibility, and we cannot have yet another cataclysm on our hands. Understood?”
Kenon and Yisini both nodded.
“Good. Now, may we eat, Yisini?”
“Of course!” Yisini beamed, breaking off a piece from the large chocolate sculpture. “Enjoy, guys!”
