Potential Psionic Problems

As Psiksi climbed the stairs to the office of the Missing, he wondered if maybe he had come at a bad time. Normally, he would have taken his problems to one of the Tattered Navigators, who were once again leaders of the Thantir, but Psiksi was under the impression that the current situation needed higher help. And maybe the assistance of one of the most powerful and insane telepaths around.

However, right now, Psiksi could hear arguing. Pretty intense arguing blurred by some sort of psionic fog thing. As Psiksi reached the top, the door to the office suddenly exploded open and Retvik stormed out of it. He didn’t even notice Psiksi as he stomped past, heading downstairs and back to his personal quarters, and all Retvik did was snarl as a wad of paper, thrown from inside the office, flew out and bounced off his head.

“AND YOU CAN FORGET ABOUT SEXY TIMES AS WELL! NOT UNTIL YOU LEARN!”

Litvir suddenly paused as he spotted Psiksi standing in the door and realised that his psionic anti-listening cloud had been dissipated by Psiksi’s presence.

“Uh, you alright?” Psiksi asked.

“Clearly not…” Litvir seemed to quickly calm down. “I apologise. You were not supposed to hear that.”

“You’re allowed to argue occasionally!” Psiksi smiled, doing his best to make Litvir feel better. “It’s natural. Can’t agree all the time. But I guess, since you mentioned, uh, sexy times, I wanted to ask you about something.”

Litvir sighed. “Alright, fine, come in.”

Psiksi did as he was told and made himself comfy, sitting on Litvir’s desk. “You seem pretty upset.”

“Ugh…” Litvir kept on sighing. “Your observation skills are keen today.”

“Alright, fair, that was an obvious comment. But I haven’t seen you argue with Retvik like that before. Or, really, ever.”

“Normally we are fine. But Elksia’s… egg situation is somewhat getting between us. Between Retvik being on guard outside Elksia’s room and Arkay covering as a Time Drake, I am hardly seeing my partners. But Retvik is causing other problems I thought we had settled.”

Psiksi thought for a moment. “Does he want kids?”

“Yes.”

“With you?”

“For some insane reason, yes.”

“And I assume you are completely and utterly against that?”

Litvir nodded. “I have a very long list of reasons why I do not want to pass my genetic information down to a new generation.”

“And what are some of those reasons?” Psiksi asked. “Because, like, Kuta and little Retvik want to have kids.”

Litvir leaned forward and almost growled. “I have had long conversations with Kuta explaining why they should not have kids either, but Kuta will not listen to me. It is Kuta’s body and Kuta is the only person who has the right to decide what to do with it, and all I can do is try and talk them out of things. My argument with Retvik just now was similar. Retvik wants a kid and I refuse to let my body or my genetics be used to make a kid, nor do I want to dedicate the rest of my very long existence raising one. Retvik cannot get that into his thick skull, nor does he… really know the other reasons…”

Psiksi also leaned forward. “What are those reasons?”

“Do you know what the Kaldieridoi were?” Litvir responded with a question of his own.

“Uh… no… Is it like the Rethianoi or something?”

“Somewhat…” Litvir tutted. “Very basically, Siona Kaldieridos was a monster who constantly got egg-ridden and handed his eggs to evil scientists, to create horrific monsters out of his own children. Many of us children were disfigured and deformed, we were tortured and fighting each other to stay alive. The only reason why Kuta and I look like decent Rethans now is because becoming deities made our bodies change. I was only just passable as a Rethan, I was riddled with illnesses and scarred by my childhood. Things happened that I have not recovered from and struggle to admit out loud…” Litvir suddenly trailed off. “Sorry. You came to me with a problem.”

Psiksi nodded. “I did, yeah. Because I think there’s some sort of telepathic thing going around and suddenly everyone wants kids.”

“Huh… And I did not notice…”

There was a moment of silence as Litvir thought to himself. After a few seconds, Litvir made a clicking noise, and after a few seconds, someone appeared at the door.

“Oh! Hey bro!” Eksi smiled as he entered. “Hey boss, what’s up?”

“There is a telepathic thing going around making us want kids!” Litvir hissed. “Why have you not detected it?”

Eksi blinked in confusion. “Huh? There is?”

“Yes.”

Eksi continued to blink, then closed his eyes and concentrated. “Uh, no, there isn’t.”

“There must be.”

“Nah. I didn’t notice it, and if I didn’t, you, Kuta or Nyssi would have noticed it. Someone would have noticed a telepathic insertion somewhere because we have so many damn telepaths.”

Litvir grunted, then thought to himself for a moment, going back to the argument he’d had with Retvik. He realised that it had been somewhat circular, they had repeated themselves a lot. Eksi quickly caught on to Litvir’s thoughts.

“You think Elksia is accidentally doing time stuff to us?” Eksi asked.

“Yes, I think so…” Litvir frowned. “Because Retvik and I have had the same discussion about kids constantly. Anything related to sex, kids or family in general seems to loop somewhat.”

“Oof, that’s concerning…” Psiksi muttered, before thinking to himself. “… And making me wonder if I actually want kids with Teacake or not…”

“Teacake?” Eksi telepathically asked. “You’re… hitting it off with Telecharm?”

“Yeah. Been messaging him constantly. And I know you’re doing your thing with Kaytee…” Psiksi telepathically replied.

“You do realise I can hear your conversation yes?” Litvir tutted. “Either way, we need to get to the bottom of this before anyone else gets egg-ridden… Can one of you two fetch Thassalin for-”

Before Litvir could finish his sentence, Thassalin had already appeared. He was currently in a large Thrakian form and had just stuck his head into the doorway, the rest of his massive body was downstairs.

“Hello. I’m already working on a solution. Litvir, please may you fetch Arkay and the two Raptors and meet me in the guard tower?”

“Yes, of course, but why? And why are you not asking for Elkay as well?”

“I’ll let you know in a moment. But we need to be swift.”

Immediately, Thassalin headed back off. Litvir frowned, then went to do as he had been asked, leaving the twins in the office.

“Well, this is worrisome…” Eksi muttered.

“Yeah… I know fuck all about time stuff.”

“Me too… Hopefully Thassalin knows what to do, because this is all very fucky right now…”
