Phovos wasn’t sure how it all happened, but she was going toe to toe with an insanely strong Skyavok. If she hadn’t been the famous Raptor of Palaestra, she would have been very scared, but right now she was simply worried.
It had all started when she and Timik had picked up a sent. It was obviously a Skyavok, because they were in Skyavok territory. But Timik had gone chasing after the scent and clearly the owner of said scent saw Timik as a threat. That was probably why Timik was now unconscious, having been thrown against a wall. Next to Kohra. Because clearly this Skyavok saw a supposed Rethavok as a threat and immediately took him out as well.
The Raptor wasn’t sure what bothered her more, the fact that this Skyavok saw them as a threat and definitely seemed to be trying to knock Phovos out, or just how insanely fast the Skyavok managed to take out Kohra and Timik. To be fair, Kohra was never really a fighter, but Timik was a guard, he was a heavily built tank of a Temthan. And the Skyavok telekinetically threw him against a wall with ease.
Phovos though was beginning to run out of steam. This Skyavok knew all the moves. But he was also using telekinetic shields. Which was cheating in Phovos’s mind.
Suddenly, as the Skyavok broke an old chair over Phovos’s head, Phovos had an idea.
“We’re not a threat, you know!”
“You seem like one…” the Skyavok replied, kicking Phovos in the stomach. Phovos retaliated by falling backwards and landing on her butt, before throwing a rock at the Skyavok.
“Well, you’re the one who attacked first!”
The Skyavok flicked the rock away with ease, then closed the gap between them by leaping in front of Phovos and trying to pin her down. Phovos was having none of that and kicked at the Skyavok’s crotch area. Amazingly, that made the Skyavok back off, but it didn’t do nearly as much damage as Phovos expected a kick in the bollocks to do.
“A Temthan charged at me, you would defend yourself too…” the Skyavok seemed angry now, but also slightly more hesitant.
“Timik’s pretty harmless though!” Phovos shrugged, climbing back to her feet. “You though, you’re insane…”
“No, just talented.”
The Skyavok waved his hands. A telekinetic shield thing bashed Phovos on the head. The Skyavok was trying to crush her. Phovos though was having none of that, and decided now would be a good time to activate her adaptation powers. Blackened claws cut through the shield and the rest of the Skyavok’s attacks as Phovos charged towards them.
Not knowing what to do, the Skyavok leaped out of the way and drew a weapon, a gun of some sort. Following a deep breath, the Skyavok pulled the trigger, only to watch as the energy blast bounced harmlessly off Phovos’s massive chest.
“Is the fight over yet?” a voice suddenly shouted from somewhere else. This caused both Phovos and the Skyavok to stop what they were doing.
“No it’s fucking not!” Phovos shouted back. “Where the fuck are you, Kayen?”
“Hiding!” Kayen shouted some more. “It’s like, a really bad crime to attack the Ksa of a class. Especially Teekay, the leader of the K-Class.”
Phovos turned back to the Skyavok. “Hi, Teekay, I’m Phovos. Can we stop fighting now?”
Teekay remained unmoved. “You are still a threat.”
“Technically so are you…” Phovos tutted. “Wait, I thought the K-Class was military and stuff? What is the leader of all that doing out here?”
“Why isn’t he glued to the All-Ksa’s side like he always is?” Kayen was still shouting from wherever he was hiding. “That’s where you always are… Like, you haven’t taken a day off since forever, and here you are at an old Threavok temple!”
“I could ask the same of you!” Teekay hissed. “What are you doing in Skyavok territory?”
Phovos shrugged. “I’ll be honest, your appearance here is probably more suspicious than the four adventurers who saved a bunch of missing Temthans and things not too long ago. I mean, assuming Kayen’s right about you, it seems really weird that the vok in charge of protecting the All-Ksa is wandering around a Threavok temple…”
Teekay sighed, then put down his weapon. “I am… searching for Arkadin, the Thantophor.”
“Oh goodie!” Kayen smiled as he appeared next to Phovos. “Because we’re looking for him too!”
