Silent Blade

Epani took a long, deep breath as she approached the glimmering oasis. High above the universe sat what was essentially a hotel for the gods, where visiting Life Goddesses from other universes would pop by, eat luxurious food, drink vast amounts of rich wine and relax by stunning, crystal clear waters. All the while, they would be able to buy a vast amount of fancy products, all made from valuable resources taken from this universe, namely the golden fountains within some of Epani’s favourite planets. Products capable of destroying corruption and killing the horrors that threatened the Goddesses and their precious ways of life.

The Panelix had taken a much smaller form today. The two guards at the entrance didn’t recognise her at first, and required some form of identification in order to let her in. Epani wasn’t sure whether this was a good thing or not, but it wasn’t the fault of the guards. After all, they were slaves, mind-controlled servants who believed they were free. As soon as Epani had mentioned her name though, the guards immediately pointed her in the direction of The Motherly Villa, the large abode at the back of the oasis where Kinisis, the Allmaker, lived.

As Epani marched through the oasis, avoiding drunk and often naked goddesses, she didn’t spot many other guards. The few she saw were all of two similar species, the two that Epani knew were the favourites of her brother Arkadin. For a long time, Kinisis had used these species, mainly to mock her deathly son.

Luckily, the villa was both not too far and not easy to miss. It was painted white and gold, unlike the other pink and gold buildings, and in front of it was a personal garden and natural pool of water, which bubbled away on its own. Epani took a moment to steady herself, then checked her body. She was wearing golden lace but not much else, making herself look more like the other-universal goddesses that were getting fat off Epani’s resources. As far as she was concerned, as soon as this was all over, the oasis would be one of the first things to go. With a grunt, Epani summoned two objects: a large, golden blade, and a small communicator.

A wave of uneasiness surged through Epani’s mind. The what-ifs were many. But she shook her self down and cleared her head, approaching the front door. She knocked six times, the same way she ways knocked.

The door opened up instantly. Kinisis was standing there, wearing a ceremonial cape draped over one shoulder, and a thin, white dress that went down to her toes. A gold tiara twisted its way around Kinisis’s head.

“Come in.”

Epani did as she was told, closing the door behind her.

“Tea?”

“No thank you. I will not be staying long.”

“No? I’ll be honest, my dear Epani, you disappoint me. Out of all of my children, out of all the loops and creations I have made, I thought you would have been more loya-”

Kinisis never finished her sentence. In a single swipe, Epani had drawn her blade and cleanly sliced Kinisis’s head clean off. However, neither head nor her body hit the ground, instead, everything evaporated into a shower of green and silver particles.

After a moment of silence, Epani hit the button on the communicator in her other hand.

“It’s all up to you now, brother…”
