“We need a holiday. And I want to buy things.”
Retvik looked up from his work, a report on how many patients had been treated that day, as well as the types of corruption that had affected them.
“A holiday?” Litvir asked as he also looked up from his work, sorting out schedules.
“Yeah. A holiday. You two and me.” Arkay had just finished his shift on guard duty, and was floating around, perfectly balanced on his long gun-staff.
“What sort of holiday?” Litvir seemed more interested than Retvik was.
“I don’t know. I mean, I assume there are space hotels all over the place. And there have to be places we can go and visit.”
“What sort of visit? Like, tourist attractions?” Litvir asked. “In all honesty, I have never actually been on a proper holiday. I definitely did not go on any holidays when I was mortal.”
“None at all?” Retvik butted in. “You spent your entire life in the 11th Legion?”
Litvir tutted. “Not my entire life. Just most of it. The rest of my mortal life consisted of being a slave to my own mother or being trapped inside my own stupid mental matrix.”
Arkay glanced at Litvir, then shrugged. “Probably a good thing that we need a holiday and should have one.”
Retvik grunted and crossed his arms in vague annoyance. “Arkay, we have a job to do.”
“We always have jobs to do but that doesn’t mean we can’t go on holiday.”
“We are the leaders of the Thantir. That is-”
Litvir tutted some more, blatantly interrupting. “Retvik, we can take some time off. We are not tied up to this floating island in the middle of nowhere, and we have the original owners of our sect literally downstairs.”
Retvik turned to Litvir. “Our job is to run this sect.”
“All day, every day?” Arkay frowned. “Surely we can take a break. We can do SOMETHING. Because I think I’m going to get a bit crazy always being here.”
“How comes?”
“Well, I used to roam across an entire universe, and now I’m roaming across an island that isn’t even the size of a small moon. And I know that makes little sense, but planets and moons in particular were pretty small, all things considered…” Arkay explained. “Like, this place IS really small. Bigger than the Thantir One, but still small. And there’s not much around the Thantir One to look at, and I’ve already seen most of Savepoint. It would be good to see other things too.”
Litvir nodded in agreement. “Arkay has a good point. Sure, we occasionally travel to the mall, but we have all been there a few times. We have not even really left this sector, outside of you and Ret.”
“And Psiksi!” Arkay added.
“Yes, and Psiksi. Although, technically, Psiksi came here by accident…” Litvir trailed off briefly. “But, also, I am sure that every other sect trio takes time off occasionally. Of course they do. They would go as crazy as Arkay already is.”
“Oof… painful but accurate…” Arkay muttered, before perking up again. “But surely other sect trios go on holiday? Or take breaks together? Or something! And for us, it’ll be easier, because the big guys can run the place while we’re away, AND we’re apparently well-known. We should use our infamy or whatever to get cool stuff.”
Retvik grunted, not agreeing, but he paused for a moment. “We have not taken you to that nice mall in Phantai territories.”
“The one where we had that nice seafood meal?” Litvir asked. “We only went there a couple of times anyway. Once before we blew up that silly Voidborn mothership, and once after we left the Phantai’s ship and settled down here.”
“And, both times, Vikalos dragged us all to that fast food place and bought everyone burgers…” Retvik added, before pausing again. He just realised that he was agreeing with Arkay and Litvir. “Alright, fine, we can consider a holiday. But I do not want us going on holiday for a long time. Our trip needs to be reasonable. Also, I have no idea where we could go.”
Arkay shrugged. “I’ve not really even left this sector anyway. Sure, I briefly entered other sectors when I was running away, and I got dragged into the death-hole that is the pentacluster next door by the bastard Unending One, but I’ve never really gone exploring or anything…” Arkay suddenly paused. “I suppose we could go camping?”
“We are not going camping!” Litvir immediately hissed. “If we are going on holiday, we are going to go to actually nice places, where we sleep on fluffy beds and eat fancy food.”
“Oh. Fair enough!” Arkay smiled. “But where can we go? I don’t know this place at all. Also, no offence to you, Litvir, I want to buy my own ship. Your ship is cool but not comfy. Plus, at some point, Kal did say they’d take me ship-shopping.”
“Vikalos mentioned buying or upgrading a ship as well? Something like that. Or maybe he wanted to go to a garage or something?” Litvir added. “Maybe you could go on a trip to buy yourself a ship and then we could start looking at places to travel?”
“Sounds good to me!” Arkay beamed.
“I just worry about where we will park them,” Retvik shrugged. “But we will work things out, I guess. Either way though, I have work to finish.”
“Same here…” Litvir frowned. “This scheduling stuff is annoying. But it has to be done.”
“It’s fine, guys! We’re still on schedule for snuggle time later though, right?”
“Oh, of course!” Litvir and Retvik both started smiling. “See you later, Arkay. Make sure you get the bed nice and warm for us. Yes, Retvik will do that for us instantly later, but, well, your warmth is nice too.”
Arkay grinned, then twirled around his gun-staff, before floating off outside. “Sure thing! See you guys later!”
