All he did was say “no”. Vick never let culted Voidborns into his pub, and the angry being standing before him was the main reason why. Voidborns that belonged to cults were always aggressive and stubborn, believing that they and their cult were better than everyone else.
This particular Voidborn was joined by two other Voidborns. All three of them were massive, metallic suits of armour with glowing eyes, but, unusually, they were not pure silver or gold, but a weird, shiny purple gold with an odd sparkle to them. And because Vick had said they weren’t allowed in, the Voidborns decided to try and force their way inside anyway. As they laid hands on Vick, Vick immediately pushed them back, into their two companions.
The Voidborns were not amused by that at all. All three of them summoned weapons, long, heavily decorated glaives and pointed them at Vick. Vick retaliated by slamming the door of his pub shut and snarling.
“You don’t want this fight!” Vick hissed. “I have no qualms in killing you!”
“Maybe you could have allowed us Violetclawians in!” the front Voidborn tutted.
“I am not breaking my own damn rules for three purple pricks like you! Leave now, peacefully, and I’ll let you bastards live.”
Two of the Voidborns laughed. One of them laughed nervously. All three of them pointed their glaives in Vick’s direction.
“Very well. Don’t say I didn’t fucking warn you!”
Vick growled, then held his right hand out, shaking it several times. A heavy metal shield materialized out of thin air, a long spear formed in his other hand, and metal spikes and armour formed around Vick, protecting him from harm.
The first Voidborn tried to attack first, but Vick immediately whacked their glaive to one side and forced his spear into a hole in the Voidborn’s neck. The more uneasy Voidborn tried to step back, but Vick then span around and hit them with his shield, knocking them off their feet. Rather than stabbing them with the spear, Vick then smashed the Voidborn’s head in with his shield, before skewering it with a sharp silver trim along the shield’s lower edge and kicking the Voidborn to one side.
The third Voidborn though, they decided to be a lot more destructive. They raced past Vick, trying to make their way inside the bar. However, as they approached and tried to force their way in, something inside the bar pushed the Voidborn back. This vague annoyance forced the last Voidborn and they turned their attention back to Vick.
Worryingly, Vick didn’t notice. He had completely smashed in the head of the first Voidborn, but the second had managed to at least roll away. Vick did manage to just about turn around, to stop himself from being stabbed in the back, but the second Voidborn was also now back on its feet, and the pair of them had Vick somewhat cornered.
Not having that much choice, because Vick had turned to face the third Voidborn, he decided to summon a second shield and bash them together, trapping the third Voidborn’s arm, while whipping the second Voidborn with his now-armoured tail. Vick managed to bash the third Voidborn a few more times, disorientating them enough to stop them fighting back too much.
However, Vick suddenly realized he was in trouble, because the second Voidborn had grabbed onto Vick’s tail, and was pulling him back, and the third Voidborn in front of him was stopping Vick from retaliating.
Rather than stabbing Vick though, the two Voidborns decided to be extra violent. The third Voidborn moved to one side, and the second kicked Vick in the back, sending Vick sprawling against the ground. Now working together, the Voidborns lifted Vick up and threw him through the closed door (and partially through the wall as well) and into the bar proper. The Voidborns didn’t even hesitate as both of them grabbed various tables and chairs and started smashing them over Vick’s head and back.
Any attempts to get back up were quickly stifled as Vick tried to flail and escape, but one of the Voidborns was now standing on his back and neck, hitting him with bits of table, while the other started trashing the bar.
Rather abruptly though, the beating and the smashing completely stopped. Both Voidborns stopped what they were doing and stared blankly ahead, at the room behind the bar. Standing there was Letharus, who Vick had placed inside his mini bunker. Clouds of psionic energy, in white and purple, swirled across the room, then twisted round the two Voidborns.
“Phevgeseste!” Letharus demanded. “Leave! Now!”
The Voidborns laughed.
“Lalousa, phengeseste!”
More laughter. Letharus had given them both two warnings, they didn’t deserve a third.
With a raise of Letharus’s hand, the psionic clouds twisted and turned faster around the two Voidborns, before suddenly becoming physical, turning into ribbons. Both Voidborns realized they had gone a little too far, and were now wondering what was going on. Before long, the Voidborns were utterly infatuated with the swirling ribbons, even as the ribbons changed into heavy chains, stopping the Voidborns from doing anything at all. Once he was certain the Voidborns were ensnared, Letharus twisted his hand, then clapped both hands together, snuffing out the chains and ribbons.
For a moment, the two Voidborns just stood there, blankly staring at Letharus. They continued to do so for ten seconds. After those seconds passed, the two Voidborns walked outside, turned to each other, then both summoned a golden rapier. They proceeded to stab at each other, rapidly, until one of the Voidborns collapsed on the ground, lifeless and full of holes. The other Voidborn, upon seeing the other one die, then proceeded to stab itself until it was also dead.
Satisfied, Letharus snarled, then snapped his fingers, releasing any unwanted energy, before kneeling down to help Vick up.
“Ow.”
“I am sorry.”
Vick rolled onto his side. “Why are you saying sorry? Also, what the fuck did you do to them?”
“I made them kill each other.”
“You can do that?”
Letharus sighed. “As far as I am aware, back when I was a Voidborn slave in the Phovon Gap, I was among one of the most powerful telepaths alive. And becoming a Decay Lord has, worryingly, made me stronger.”
“Huh…” Vick didn’t have much to say. He managed to sit up, but as Vick saw all the destruction around him, he just sighed.
“Are you alright, Vick?”
“No. Going to cost me a fortune to get all this repaired.”
Letharus hesitated, then sat down next to Vick, inspecting the damage. Neither of them said anything for a while, up until Letharus had an idea. He suddenly pulled out his communicator and tapped on it.
“Dear, what are you doing?”
Letharus smiled. “I think I know someone who can help…”
