Voidborn’s Warcry

My dearest, most beloved child,

I am writing this message to you as we are in great peril. Horrible events are afoot. Your mother Kinisis has exiled me, cast me out and locked me away from the universe I so love and wish to protect.

The reason? Your dastardly sibling Arkadin. He has done something mysterious and mischievous to the mind of Kinisis, forced her to make her love him like a real son. Her mind has been corrupted by his influence. Together, with Kinisis under Arkadin’s spell, they could bring doom to the universe we call home. All I can do is look on, trapped within the Space Between Spaces, as they cause chaos together.

Arkadin has sealed Kinisis and himself within the Inner Sanctum, the centre of the universe. A sphere of Kinisis’s own chaotic energy stops me from entering, repelling me with every attempt. This wall will repel anything that displeases Kinisis and Arkadin and destroys Voidborn energy and beings such as myself. The only way in is via Kinigi Gate, the window from which Kinisis observes her universe.

It is possible that you, my child, may pass through this hole. Not on your own, but via an army of mortal beings. Through their will and your own, you may be able to break down the gate and enter Kinigi itself, using your army to liberate Kinisis and free her from Arkadin’s control.

But there is more than just Arkadin’s corrupted evil. Kinisis has rallied your other siblings to protect her and Arkadin, rallied them against me and my efforts to defend her from evil. Your siblings will attempt to stop you, but they will also attempt to break through the gate to prove their worth to Kinisis. Should they do that before you, Arkadin may take control of them as well. They are unaware of Arkadin’s manipulation, despite my warnings. You, my child, are.

Only you can save this universe. I will provide whatever assistance I can to you, but in my current state, I am forced to watch as this beloved universe crumbles and what help I can offer is limited.

My child, raise your army, gather your followers and go forth, in the name of Kinisis, Kenon and this universe. Break down the Kinigi Gate and free your mother from her hideous captor. Protect and save this universe that you call home.

I have my absolute faith in you.

Sincerely,

Kenon, Voidborn

A fire crackled in the middle of the beautiful black and gold room. A soft red sofa adorned with gold leaf and ember gems creaked under the weight of the Void Lord as he carefully wrote his letter. Ahead of him was a view of the entire universe, viewed from above. This was Kenon’s little hideaway, his observation platform accessible only to him and one other. That other would not dare visit this place without permission, so Kenon considered it one of the safest places in the universe.

Kenon smiled as he made the last few adjustments to his letter, then delicately placed it into a golden envelope, before sealing it with red wax. With a wave of his hand, the letter was duplicated into three, and the names of his three favourite deities were written on the front. With a snap of his fingers, the three letters vanished, leaving behind nothing but a small breeze.

The Lord of the Void leaned back in his chair, grinning. His revenge was in motion. All he had to do now was sit back and enjoy the view.
