A Chat With Darkhealer

Darkhealer: Hey, you around?

Deathbringer is now online.

Deathbringer: Oh, hiya Veeyel! What’s up?

Darkhealer: Good to hear from you, Arkay.

Darkhealer: You replied somewhat quickly.

Deathbringer: I spend a lot of time messaging people. I prefer it over phone calls and stuff.

Darkhealer: I guess. Deathven is similar, you can’t just call him.

Deathbringer: I get that. He probably gets inundated with pointless calls and messages that could be handled by a secretary or something.

Deathbringer: Anyway, you don’t normally message me, so something must be up.

Darkhealer: Eh, I just felt like keeping in touch with a fellow freak.

Deathbringer: Gotta be more to it than that.

Darkhealer: Alright, fair. Yeah, there’s stuff I want to ask.

Darkhealer: First things first, you seen any interesting Corruptions lately?

Deathbringer: I don’t think “interesting” is the best way to describe Corruption.

Deathbringer: But I get what you mean.

Deathbringer: In all honesty, it’s been nothing but the common strains around here. Haven’t had a case of the Unending Ancient One strain in a very long time, no Hungering Indifference, no nothing. Even the Nekro-Kinisis strain has been laying low as of late while the Pentathax have been working.

Darkhealer: … What is Nekro-Kinisis?

Deathbringer: Uh…

Deathbringer: Very simply, it’s what happens when a fucking awful, abusive Life Goddess gets taken out by her fellow Life Goddesses and, rather than resurrecting herself in a slightly weaker state, she decided she wanted to be eternal and turned herself into a strain of Corruption that whispers solutions to your greatest fears at you.

Darkhealer: That… that is fucked up.

Deathbringer: Ugh, tell me about it.

Deathbringer: Her main ‘host’ is dead, same way the Unending Ancient One’s sentient form is dead, but there’s little bits hiding out there.

Deathbringer: Alright, why are you asking?

Darkhealer: Well, um…

Darkhealer: It’s been… quiet all over. And I don’t know why.

Darkhealer: Like, I had some idea that things might quieten down because of what the Dyathax, Triathax and Pentathax have accomplished but still.

Deathbringer: What have the Triathax done? I heard from a Teekay that the Dyathax managed to completely destroy some sort of large nest thing related to one of the scary strains, but I was unaware the Triathax were also active and a thing.

Darkhealer: There’s ten Numbersects, as they’re called. All their leaders came from a single now dead sect called the Zerar.

Darkhealer: The Triathax just finished wiping out a weird bright purple strain. They found a mega-nest and utterly incinerated the whole lot.

Darkhealer: It’s been two weeks and there hasn’t been a single new case. It’s genuinely impressive.

Deathbringer: Wow! Congrats to them!

Deathbringer: I can’t say that much has happened here, but I think you’re already well aware of what happened to the Unending Ancient One’s sentient source.

Deathbringer: Wow, that… that was… a year-string and a half ago.

Darkhealer: Time flies when you’re having fun and also have two boyfriends. And your own sect.

Deathbringer: I mean, yeah, that’s true. There’s now nearly 50 members of the Thantir I think.

Deathbringer: Actually, let me count.

Deathbringer: Yeah. We’re sitting at 42 members.

Deathbringer: There were 6 when I became a Decay Lord.

Darkhealer: Where do you keep on finding new Decaylings?

Deathbringer: The void is big.

Darkhealer: Alright, fair.

Darkhealer: Admittedly, I’m kinda sect-less. Me and my team are just associates to the local Deathven sector, the local mega sect of Teliavok and the Dyathax.

Deathbringer: Which sector? I’m technically not allowed near Deathven sectors but I am curious.

Darkhealer: Why not?

Deathbringer: It was part of the deal that allows me to be an active Decay Lord under Deathven’s protections. There’s a ban on Synaisthyns in Deathven sectors unless notified in advance.

Deathbringer: But still, am curious.

Darkhealer: Deathven Sector Tau.

Deathbringer: Huh. T for Teliavok.

Darkhealer: You know what? Never fucking considered that.

Darkhealer: Anyway, so, back to what I wanted to talk about. Things are quiet, Corruption-wise?

Deathbringer: Yeah.

Darkhealer: Alright, so how about Voidborns?

Deathbringer: Mate, the area’s been dead when it comes to Voidborns for ages.

Deathbringer: The entire Golden Doom mega cult thing is dead.

Deathbringer: The only things that are left are a few darkspawn thingies where new Voidborns give birth to themselves or whatever; those fucking annoying Children of the Ancient Collector who get routinely murdered; and my adogtic half-brother and his little circle of friends who do their own Corruption purges.

Darkhealer: …

Deathbringer: What?

Darkhealer: You have a brother who is a Voidborn?

Deathbringer: Half Voidborn, half Decay Lord.

Deathbringer: We’re doing a big get-together in 9th month, Veekay’s coming, you want to meet him?

Darkhealer: What do you mean?

Deathbringer: The Tattered Navigators decided to tie the knot. We’re having a proper real wedding ceremony and we’re kinda inviting everyone.

Darkhealer: Hang on…

Darkhealer: Ah. Two of them are Vokaic, according to their description. Gonna guess what they’re doing is similar to what Teliavok do.

Deathbringer: Do you mean they want to invite as many important people as possible to prove their love?

Darkhealer: Um… kinda…

Darkhealer: Honestly, I’d love to come, but I don’t think I can bring my two babes.

Deathbringer: Um… why?

Darkhealer: Letalis is a fucking lunatic sometimes and Ralian is a racist prick sometimes.

Darkhealer: Plus, we got stuff going on here. Funnily enough, sometimes we also ordain marriages for high ranking Teliavok. Don’t have any right now, but I’ve got a ton of seminars going on next 4-ev.

Darkhealer: One of which I ought to be working on right now, fuck.

Darkhealer: Alright, last thing I wanted to ask. You got any of those Rainbow Ruin Voidborns?

Deathbringer: What?

Darkhealer: Alright so most Voidborns we get through here that aren’t kill on sight are Vast Voids. And some of them have been talking about a thing called the Rainbow Ruin.

Deathbringer: If you really want to piss off Deathven, mention that Rainbow Ruin nonsense to him. It’s some stupid idea that, like, nine people will destroy that mega gold Voidborn cult thing.

Darkhealer: Huh?

Darkhealer: Are you talking about the Plated Cults?

Deathbringer: That’s why it’s so stupid. They genuinely fear that nine beings will destroy them.

Darkhealer: But the Plated Alliance is like, billions strong…

Deathbringer: Mhm.

Darkhealer: Alright, it’s a load of nonsense then. I’m gonna disregard it. And considering your words, Deathven’s already disregarded it too.

Deathbringer: Yeah.

Darkhealer: Cool. I’ll leave you to it. Have a good one, Arkay.

Deathbringer: You too, Veeyel! Good luck with those seminars.

Darkhealer: Thanks, kid.

Darkhealer is now offline.
