“So, uh, how do we speak to the Great Blades to arrange things?”
Galyn had been wanting to talk for a while, but he was currently in one of his somewhat quiet and submissive moods, where he found it hard to say what was on his mind.
“Why are you asking?” Litvir teased as he tidied things up around his office.
“Because I want to get things moving. I am already sending out invites. Mostly to other Beh’ens since the Thantir are all automatically invited. I… have admittedly already sent a message to Phos, but I haven’t… explained anything yet.”
“Well, I can just call the three of them and ask, but from the tone of your voice, you do not want to be too blunt about things.”
Galyn frowned, then nodded. “That is correct. I… I feel like my overly large request of them is something that should be done in person. But I am literally the Deceiver, being in Phantai territories just feels wrong, even if things have changed now. Speaking to the Great Blades is… still oddly scary to me.”
“Understandable! Perhaps we can go together?”
Galyn frowned some more, this time in confusion. “What do you mean?”
Litvir finished up his tidying, then threw himself into into his office chair, spinning around in it a few times. “It has been a long time since you three and us three went on a trip together! The last time we did that was for the silly Justarian party that was ruined by that grumpy Truthtalker person.”
“I guess, but…” Galyn paused.
“You were about to ask who would keep an eye on Savepoint while we are gone, yes?” Litvir was in a playful mood today. “We have so many more members now. We have an entire set of twelve former Divine Guardians.”
“Half of them are Decaylings.”
“They are still very competent. If anything, they are racing through their training, and it is just the fact that Helkas needs to catch up that is stopping them from doing their Decay Lord Trial straight away!” Litvir smiled. “That is beside the point though. We have plenty of people who can keep Savepoint and the Pink Paradise running smoothly while we pop to the Goldtorn Remains! And we can do extra stuff too!”
“Like… like what?”
Litvir smiled some more, then span around a few more times in his chair before facing Galyn properly. “Well, after we speak to the Great Blades and arrange things with them, we could just come straight back to Savepoint. But I think, instead, we should go to that nice mall and heavily abuse the discounts that Retvik, Arkay and I get to buy all the things you want for your wedding.”
“What discounts?” Galyn asked.
“Huge discounts on pretty much everything. You three are going to want wedding rings or something, at the very least.”
“Actually…” Galyn hesitated. “Traditionally, we don’t have wedding rings. Beh’enu married to Beh’ena have wedding chains, but we… do not have much normally. Just a blood oath. But you do raise a good point. Perhaps we could get some fabric and some gold thread, stitch our oaths onto the fabric and then dip the fabric in a concoction of our combined blood and use that to seal our oath… I will have to discuss it with Itaviir and Vikalos.”
“How much blood are we talking about here?” Litvir asked.
“At least half a litre from each of us.”
“That… is a lot of blood…” Litvir muttered.
“We suck that amount of blood out of Elkay every few days.”
“True, true…” Litvir changed his tone. “Can we sort out the blood in advance? Save messing around during the ceremony?”
“Yes.”
Litvir perked up. “We can get some nice glass vials or something to put your blood in as well, if you wish. Might as well use and abuse the silly discounts that the silly mall gives us and buy all the things we need. And you three can have a nice meal together or something afterwards. Alright, good! So, let me call Psehon and arrange a time and date. Soon as possible would be best, I assume?”
Galyn nodded. Litvir immediately took that nod as an agreement and reached for his communicator, swiftly hitting the call button. Some strange, animal feeling in the back of Galyn’s mind made him want to protest, but he remained silent. Silent but concerned, as the phone rang.
“Hello, Soulblade speaking.”
“Hello!” Litvir almost chirped with glee. “Psehon, how are you?”
“Ah, Souldrainer… Litvir, is there something you need? We are well, thank you.”
“There is something we need, actually!” Litvir grinned. “I want to call in a favour. We have saved your bacon, as Arkay would say it, several times now, and we have a rather fun request to make of you. Would you three, us three and our mutual buddies, the Tattered Three, be able to meet on your flag ship to discuss the favour, in person?”
“Of course, but I would like an idea of what your request may be before we get too ahead of ourselves.”
“Oh, that is fair!” Litvir continued to grin. “It is nothing dangerous or anything. Vikalos, Itaviir and Galyn wish to formalise their relationship into a true marriage, and we simply request your assistance with a few things, as you are the leading Beh’ens around here.”
“Very well. We are currently free and have no plans for the next ev or so, so you may come and visit whenever you please. I shall have the Loopblades forward our ship locations to you in a moment. Is there anything else you need?”
“No, no, that is all for now. Have a good day, Psehon!”
“You too, Litvir. Speak soon.”
The call swiftly ended, and Litvir turned to Galyn, who seemed oddly nervous.
“See, that was not too hard!”
“I guess…” Galyn sighed. “Shall I go and tell everyone the news?”
“We shall go together!” Litvir beamed as he leaped out of his chair, grabbed Galyn’s hand and dragged him out of the room. “Come along now! We have great things to do!”
