“So, let me get this straight. You landed at the target destination, and everything was made out of candy, and the only thing worth of value that you brought back was a container containing 70% gold coins and 30% chocolate coins, with nothing of value in all the other containers you found?”
Galyn grunted as he looked over his little team of adventurers.
“Am I correct?”
“Somewhat, yes, but there is more to it than that!” Retvik did his best to try and explain. “We-”
“We brought back the walls of some of the sugar containers too, but Tenuk ate one!” Elksi interrupted, being her normal, bubbly self. “Actually, we all had a little bit. It was all tasty!”
Galyn turned to Tenuk, who was being awfully quiet.
“You ate a container made of candy?”
Tenuk nodded. “About that much, yeah.”
“And you do not feel unwell?”
“Nope, ser. A Kronospast diet is 99% glucose anyway.”
“Very well…” Galyn seemed satisfied with Tenuk’s answer. “Now, did you encounter any creatures during your… escapade?”
All four Dessaron nodded.
“A large serpent, Voidborn in origin.”
“Did you kill it?”
“We were supposed to kill it?” Phovos asked, looking confused and glancing at her squad mates. “We kinda just… let it go when we realized it was chained up and cold. It even said thank you.”
Galyn shook his head. “No, no, there is no need to murder everything. But proper research of this being would have been preferable. Might have been a new species of Voidwyrm.”
“Can I ask,” Retvik changed the subject. “Are you annoyed with us or something? I do not know if it is just me but I cam feeling a rather… negative aura around here.”
“If you feel that way, it is not intentional. I am actually quite happy with how you dealt with this early assignment. You scoped the place out, found something of value and did not kill anyone. Best of all, you all came back in one piece, and that is the best news.”
“Oh, so we did okay?” Elksi piped up. “Because it all kinda felt Weird. Like a mess to me.”
“These missions are always slightly messy,” Galyn frowned. “Especially with new adventurers like yourselves. I will reiterate though, I am pleased with how this mission turned out. The only main concern I have currently is how much time you took on this mission, while also being completely radio silent. I would have preferred more communication, and you could have requested assistance. Either would have helped your mission immensely. While we did not grab much in new resources, we have learned a few things about what else may be out there.”
“We did grab a lot of gold too,” Phovos added.
“What about the chocolate coins and all the candy though?” Tenuk asked. “Can I… eat it all?”
Galyn shook his head. “You may consume the false chocolate coins, but I will need to take large samples of each other resource you grabbed, so it can be written down alongside this debriefing.”
“Anything else? Or is that it for now?”
“That is it for now, but I will be briefing you all shortly on a new mission, so get yourselves cleaned up.”
The four Dessaron bowed, then left Galyn’s office.
“Well, that wasn’t too bad!” Tenuk beamed.
“Eh. It was fine, I guess…” Retvik sighed. “I just wonder what our next mission will be…”
