“I am still not used to you being so small…” Timik muttered as he and Kayen entered the cramped, white office. All over the place were tons of filing cabinets, all filled to the brim with documents and folders, but also somewhat organized. One corner though didn’t have filing cabinets, but instead had a small hammock, an arm chair and a fridge. Right at the back of the room was an overflowing desk with a little white and blue figure working away, but suddenly distracted by his visitors.
“Timik? Kayen? What are you both doing here?” Kohra exclaimed as he leaped from his desk and seemingly teleported in front of his two friends.
“Uh, we came to see you?” Timik replied bluntly.
“Yeah, you’ve been gone for ages!” Kayen squeaked. “Do you… live here now or something?”
Kohra glanced behind him, then sighed. “To tell you the truth, the entire Kronospast population lives in this one single massive building. So yeah, I do sleep in here occasionally. You have no idea how busy we are…” Kohra shook his head, sighing loudly. “I suppose that’s what happens when you’re part of the only race that can handle dead Voidborn fluids without getting ill… Doesn’t help that I was snatched up by the mean old snake girl to hammer out a deal to make sure we don’t all die.”
Timik glanced down at Kayen, then back at Kohra. “Is that why there were suddenly tons of new housing as we passed through the Skyavok sector?”
“Mhm,” Kohra nodded. “Yisini is giving us what we need. In exchange for a few things, like a workforce to help her create the resources we all need. Which is what I am working on now. After that though, still gotta work some stuff out.”
“But if Yisini is fixing things, doesn’t that mean you can take a break now?” Kayen asked.
“Or at least a shower…” Timik added.
Kohra paused, then raised his arm and sniffed under his armpit. “Oh. Oh dear. I really didn’t… Wow, I stink. I need a shower.”
“How long have you been working for, Kohra?” Kayen frowned. “Like, since you got back?”
“Yeah, basically. Do you guys mind waiting here while I shower quickly?”
Before either of them could answer, Kohra disappeared in a puff of smoke. Kayen and Timik stood there in silence, awkwardly waiting around, until Kohra reappeared 69 seconds later.
“That was fast.”
Kohra shrugged. “Spast showers always are. Plus, I think you guys are right, I need to take a break. Do you guys fancy something to eat?”
Timik nodded quite happily. “Always. I’m always hungry.”
Kayen shrugged. “I’m not fussed but food is always good.”
“Well, I’m happy as well!” Kohra smiled, feeling a tad more relaxed now. “I know a few places nearby do good food that’s fit for your consumption. Like the fishi bar down the road.”
“Fishi?” Timik blinked. “Like, fish?”
“Yeah, deep-friend fish wrapped up in rice. Very tasty.”
“Well!” Timik clapped his hands together in glee, then picked up Kayen and threw him over his shoulder. “I’m sold! Let’s go get some fishi!”
“Alright!” Kohra smiled back. “I need to lock up and let my guards know where I’m going. I’ll see you two downstairs, alright?”
“Sure, sure…” Kayen grunted, unamused by the fact he was being carried by Timik. “See you in a bit…”
