Trial of the Thantir – Reunion

“I am getting very tired of this…”

Litvir grunted as he rolled on his back to get a better look at Retvik. Rather than resting, Retvik had been pacing up and down their little plastic cell for a while. The two Decaylings couldn’t see out of the cell’s white walls, but they were certain that everyone else could see in.

“Oh, you are only now getting tired?”

Retvik turned to Litvir, snarling. “You get what I mean. Between the retarded bureaucracy around here, the constant fucking us around and whatever in the Light they are doing with Arkay, I can see why many Decaylings would rather just tie themselves to a Life Goddess. Much easier than this pile of piss…”

“You think an eternity of enslavement would be better?”

“Perhaps.”

“Have you met Arkay?”

Retvik paused. “Good point.”

Something clicked behind the Decaylings. As Retvik spun around to see what it was, a small hatch opened in the wall of the cell, shoved some things in and then snapped shut again. The things in question were two boxes. One of them was marked with an upward arrow, since it clearly contained food. The other box was much larger, with reinforced sides and an open top.

“A-Arkay?”

Both Decaylings immediately got up and rushed over to the box. Inside, Arkay was all wrapped up in blankets, dozing rather happily. Although Retvik knew he was asleep, he couldn’t help but poke Arkay in the side to wake him up and make sure he was alright.

“Whu-”

“Arkay, are you well? We thought we lost you!”

With a shake of his groggy head, Arkay pulled himself forward. He rubbed his eyes a few times, before turning his attention to Retvik and Litvir.

“Hey!” Arkay immediately beamed. “We’re all back! Fucking idiots teleported you two out and didn’t teleport me out because their trackers marked me as a Life Goddess…”

Litvir glanced at Retvik, who simply rolled his eyes. “That does not surprise us. Are you safe and healthy at least?”

Arkay checked himself up and down. “I… I think so? What about you two? Must have felt like part of you died when we got separated. I never got around to doing the ritual to split us apart again.”

“You… did not split us?” Litvir fell back in shock. “We are still one being?”

“Well… kinda… It more made us… blood-bound…” Arkay tried to explain. “Didn’t work the way I expected it to, to be honest.”

“Are there… any side effects?” Litvir asked.

“Not that I know of. I can fix it though, because I know you weren’t really comfortable with this. I just need to get our stuff back.”

Litvir shrugged. “It… it is fine. A concern for another time.”

“Really?” Retvik eyed Litvir. “You-”

“Shush. Not now. Let us just enjoy Arkay being back with us…”

Arkay smiled, a small worry off his chest. He clambered out of the box and stood up in front of his fellow Decaylings.

“Are you two alright?”

“We are now that you are safe with us!” Retvik smiled back. “Still, we are stuck waiting for whatever the Decay Lords to, uh… um…”

“Get their asses into gear?” Litvir suggested.

“Basically, yes…” Retvik’s smile turned into a long frown. “Until then, it is just us and this box…”

Arkay shrugged, appearing to not be too bothered. “That’s fine. At least we’re all together again. That’s what’s important now…”
