“I am so glad that you came…” Velas grunted as he opened the door to his mini-villa. “I was dreading this weekend and you being here makes it better.”
Arkay smiled as he dropped his bag of belongings on the floor. He technically didn’t need any of his stuff, he was only going to be visiting for a few hours. But Arkay wanted to be prepared.
“Is it really that bad?” Arkay asked. “Your family stuff?”
Velas rolled his eyes. “It is demanding.”
“How so?”
“You left your family back at your place. My family are still family. An entire family of gods of money and justice that is still around.”
Arkay shrugged. “My family are a pain as well. It’s natural.”
“My family’s matriarch was… not the nicest deity around. Ruled with an iron fist. Destroyed pretty much everything. What remains of us, we are still bound in blood.”
“Fair enough. I assume we’re not in the “show them to the family” phase yet?” Arkay asked.
“No, not yet.”
“Fair enough,” Arkay repeated himself. “I’m not at that stage yet either. No idea when that stage would even start, all things considered.”
Velas remained quiet, silently agreeing with Arkay. Arkay took the opportunity to give Velas a hug.
“It’s all good,” Arkay smiled. “We’re all good.”
Velas smiled too, as Arkay embraced him. With a little sigh, he pulled Arkay’s arms around him, then wrapped himself tightly around Arkay.
“You seem like you need a hug,” Arkay beamed.
“I do. I miss you. More than I would like to admit. You are so small and sweet and caring. I do not understand how you can put up with me. I do not do anything.”
Arkay hugged Velas tighter. “Are you being mean to yourself again? Sounds like you are.”
“It cannot be helped. You come all this way to see me. You make me happy and pleasure me and I cannot do anything for you.”
“You say that with the impression that I don’t get given enough?”
“Yes. You could do better than me.”
“Maybe, but you forget that, well, I like you. I can make my own decisions as to how I spend my love!” Arkay let go of Velas, ending their long hug.
“You are too good to me. Too kind.”
“I just try to be a good being as much as I can. I’m nothing special.”
Velas disagreed. “You are flawless in my eyes. Eternally patient, despite my lack of performance. Despite me being dumb.”
“But you’re not dumb!” Arkay protested. “You keep on putting yourself down!”
He then grabbed Velas by the hand, leading him down the main corridor to the bedrooms. Most of the doors in the hallway were closed, but the furthest door was open. That was where Arkay was going, dragging Velas down to his “cave”.
“What are you doing?” Velas asked, allowing himself to be carried along.
“We are going to go to your cave and snuggle.”
“Oh.” Velas paused, then smiled a little. “I love snuggles.”
“I know you do!” Arkay bounced excitedly. “That’s why we’re doing this!”
Velas smiled properly this time. “Alright. Let’s snuggle…”
