Kenos, better known as Stasis, is one of the three multi-dimensional beings that controls the Phoviverse. He has also been known as Kathisykaz, Vakenon or The Nothing. Stasis represents stillness and the vacuum of space, the gaps between existence. Stasis is also considered to be the ‘drag’ of the universe, the antithesis of time and essentially a personification of nothingness. Many believe Stasis to be against all of existence, but his true desire seems to be just to end time and spend eternity with Kinisis. He is a firm enemy of Kairos, but cares deeply for Kinisis, believing that her Cycles are wasted by Kairos and his constant forward movement, causing her Cycles to decay.
Stasis’s appearance is that of a large, anthropomorphic being with a wide chest and heavy black armour with gold and ivory trimmings. His most dominant feature is a pair of large antlers that stick forward from his black and gold skull. Stasis appears to have other deer- or stag-like features, although all mortals who witness Stasis claim that many smaller features will change to look similar to the races that he is visiting.
Kenos existed before the current universe came into existence, encompassing and nurturing a tiny, constantly repeating endless cycle, until Kairos appeared and caused the cycle to burst and form into a proper universe.
When the universe started to expand, Kenos created a form for himself, Stasis, in order to better interact with it. His duties involve making sure that the universe remains stable, and has been seen destroying anomalies such as unstable black holes and false vacuum states that could cause the universe to collapse. Stasis’s main duty though is to work as an anchor for the universe and stop Kairos from traveling too quickly, which can cause the universe and its cycle to scatter or fall apart.
Either as Stasis or Kenos, this being has the ability to turn nothing into anything, and anything into nothing. Stasis also has the ability to freeze time around him.
Like Kairos, Stasis has his own minions, a vast genre of beings known as Deitics. All Deitics can trace their family trees back to the Nothing, who used a stolen piece of Kinisis and a shard of himself to create the first four Deitics. There are four species of Deitic – Allagon, Anexartita, A’Vatas and Aznakrons. Allagon are formless, bestial beings which keep to themselves. Anexartitai (and many of their subspecies, such as the Lanex) are considered Stasis’s favourites, and Stasis will most often act through them. A’Vatas are considered to be liaisons between Stasis and Kinisis/Death. Aznakrons, better known to the rest of the universe as Kronospasts, mingle with mortal races, so Stasis can better understand the Cycle.
Deitics have vastly weaker abilities compared to Stasis himself, and the more Deitics that are in existence at any one point, the weaker their power is overall. Unlike Stasis, Deitics cannot freeze time, but they are immune to the effects of aging.
Stasis’s end goal is believed to be the complete removal of Kairos from the universe, causing time to stop flowing and returning the universe, the cycle and Kinisis herself to a perpetual, endless loop. Although both he and his Deitics have attempted this several times, they have always been thwarted by Kinisis, and Stasis’s trust in her and the value of her friendship often forces him to cease and go back to his true duties.
