Tale: Failed Corruption of another Universe

Translated from Laniaglos, language of the Lania

Come, children, come listen. For I have the reasons behind the blackening of the sky, the destruction of our highest mountain, the fleeing of time. I saw them with my own four eyes, I heard their battle. Life and Death came together as one.

The skies blackened when the Corruptor fell. Time around it slowed as it descended. It was hungry, it wanted to consume our universe and here, the birth of consciousness, was where it wanted to start. If it devoured our minds then no one would scream to fight back.

Already our screams fell upon the ears of Photar. Life itself, the birth of existence, took physical form to combat this monster. Pure white, with shining silver, pure as the snow of the highest lands. Two curved horns and beautiful wings helped deny and hide the ferocity of Photar’s claws. Wherever it stepped, plants bloomed around it, sending beautiful pollen into the air. Photar used clouds to slow the Corruptor, blind its vision. But alone, Photar was not enough to stop it.

Our gods though did not offer help. For as Photar foretold, there are no gods, just the endless cycle. Our cries fell onto the ears of another. As Photar struggled to halt the Corruption’s spread, the other end of the cycle awoke.

Skotar, a being as cold as space, whose empty heart had taken so many from us, had arrived. The physical form of Death ran from his horrible home to assist Photar in his time of need. Terrible black being that it was, it brandished chain and claw against the Corruptor, tearing into the threat to our existence.

But even the entirety of the cycle was not enough. It was hungry, it would not stop until all was consumed. The cycle fought bravely. Mountains fell, seas emptied, rivers moved, all in an attempt to destroy this threat.

Finally, Skotar found a solution. Death forced the endless hunger to feed on the infinity that was Death itself. Skotar trapped the Corruption inside of him and roared in pain. Photar did her best to look after her fallen brother, but Skotar knew he had to make this sacrifice.

So Skotar imprisoned himself in the depths of another world, trapping himself until the end of all. Photar reclaimed her mantle of Life, but also assumed the duty of Death, once again reuniting the cycle.

But Photar was not satisfied in her new duty. She had no one to speak to. She longed for the tender hold of her brother Skotar. So she came down to us. First the Thanai, second ourselves, then on to the other sentient beings of our shared universe. Every single being was visited by her. For Photar had devised a plan.

With the universe illuminated by Photar’s existence, she called all of us together as one. All our strength and promise combined empowered Photar. In one single strike, she tore the Corruption from Skotar’s body. Skotar, now free from the corruption, joined Photar in our united power, and all together, we exiled the Corruption from our universe.

As quickly as it happened, it all fell back to normal. We were individuals once more. But there was no war or hatred felt between us. We are at peace know, understanding everyone’s desire to exist, living Photar’s dream And when our time is up, Skotar gently takes us away, cleansing us of sin and passing us back to Photar so we may start anew.

Praise Photar. Praise Skotar. Follow the Cycle.
