The gym area was a pretty new addition to Savepoint, but it was already getting a lot of use. While the Thantir Beh’ens were regular users, as were Akah and Ksar Teekay, the person who used the gym by far the most was Ret. Apparently, according to Nyssi, before he met his crazy immortal friends, Ret spent most of his free time in the gym, to the point that he had bought a ten year membership in advance, and was about to renew it the week before the gym he used to go to burnt down. Sure, this new gym at Savepoint was rather basic, but Ret was making the most of it. Partly because he felt like he was out of shape, despite being considered to have the perfect Rethan form, not just in Kuta’s eyes, but Litvir and Elkay’s eyes too. Retvik was a tad jealous but rather than taking it out on Ret, he was now vigorously using the gym too. Ret did have an advantage though, what with being nearly forty years younger than Retvik.
Ret was using the gym right now, mostly focusing on weight training. When he became a Decayling, Ret obtained the ability to control and manipulate gravity, and Ret believed that his reliance on this new power had made him sloppy. Retvik was also in the gym and was watching Ret, wondering if Ret was cheating as he was unknowingly easily matching whatever Retvik was benchpressing.
Admittedly, almost anyone could watch Ret as he exercised, since the gym equipment was all outdoors. Savepoint may have been a floatin island in the void, but it also had no weather what so ever apart from wind, except from the few times Akah had made it snow or Phovos had summoned rain storms. That meant most things could be done outside and left outside without issue. The only real threat were void storms, but they were mostly just high winds and lightning, and as long as everyone stayed inside, the only real threat was that telepaths would get migraines.
There were void storms on their way, but not for a few evs, predicted to arrive just after Ret and Kuta’s scheduled wedding. Because of the void storms and the wedding, Ret was going harder than normal. But the benefit of the void storms was that they scared off Corruption, meaning things were calmer at Savepoint than normal.
Most things had actually already been sorted out for the wedding. They weren’t inviting many guests outside of Savepoint, mostly just Sini and her Divine Guardians, other other Retvik and his psionic vampire boyfriend Letharus, a couple of friendly Voidborns, a bunch of people called Teekay and Phovos’s big half-brother who was also Arkay’s big half-brother. Somehow. Ret didn’t quite get it, but Kuta thought the whole thing was hilarious. Doubly so since Arkay was the person who was going to officiate the wedding.
Either way, Ret wanted to look his best. Especially since he was going to be wearing rather flimsy pink armour. Kuta would be wearing the same armour but Kuta was also less bothered about their looks.
Ret was rather oblivious to everyone else’s presence though. He was enjoying himself. Doubly so since he had borrowed a music player from Ksar Teekay and was listening to… Ret had no idea what it was, but it has a great beat. Rethans, particularly new-universe ones, rarely even comprehended much more than war drums, so all the other sounds were pretty new to him. And the rhythm was doing a great job of keeping Ret steady. He wasn’t at all aware that Big On Fire Retvik was trying to match his lifts and pacing. And he didn’t notice at all when Retvik silently threw in the towel and stormed off to the showers to wash the molten sweat off himself.
Ret also didn’t know that other people were watching from a distance. And slowly getting closer. Kuta loved watching Ret work out, mostly because Kuta loved the fact that the perfect Rethan specimen was going to marry them, and, at some point, the perfect Rethan specimen was going to have a kid with Kuta.
However, as Kuta looked on from the nearby bench, they felt a heavy tap on their shoulder.
“Kuta, are you well?” Litvir asked.
Kuta blinked, rubbed their eyes then turned to their twin sibling. “I am fine, thank you, just distracted.”
“Clearly. You have been sitting here for a while.”
Before Litvir could speak further, the psionic twins were joined by the third anti-realist telepath of the Thantir. While Litvir had an odd smirk on his face, Nyssi seemed vaguely annoyed.
“We get it, you like Retty a LOT. And you consider him to be your perfect muscle mummy. We. Get. It.”
Kuta shrugged, then gestured at Ret, who had finally noticed he was being watched but didn’t seem to care much. Especially since he knew Kuta enjoyed watching him.
“I cannot help it. He is literally perfect.”
“He has accidentally pissed one of my nearly perfect partners.”
Nyssi snickered. “I saw Old Retvik storm off. He’s not quite as perfect as Retty though.”
“I cannot help but agree,” Litvir seemed unbothered by Nyssi’s comment. “But that is fine by me. Not everyone is genetically perfect. Kuta and I certainly are not. However, I believe Nyssi and I are both here for the same reason.”
Nyssi nodded, her amusement fading.
“Have I done something wrong?” Kuta asked.
“Yep! Can you PLEASE stop telepathically broadcasting how insanely thirsty you are? PLEASE?”
Kuta blinked at Nyssi, then rubbed their eyes again, before turning their attention back to where Ret was working out. However, to Kuta’s surprise, Ret was… no longer in the gym area. They glanced around briefly, blinked some more then suddenly spotted Ret heading towards them. And Ret was carrying…
“Hello, Nyssi, hello, Kyr Litvir!” Ret smiled as he handed a glass of water to Kuta. “Kuta, my dear, I heard Nyssi saying you were thirsty, so I got you a drink.”
Kuta stared at the drink, then at Ret. Nyssi however instantly burst out laughing, and Litvir was clearly holding in his amusement too.
“Uh… Why are you laughing?” Ret asked.
Kuta sighed, then put a hand on Ret’s shoulder and led him away. “I shall tell you later. Let us get you showered, so I can show you how much I love you.”
“Oh… alright…” Ret was still confused as Kuta dragged him off, but decided to just go with the flow. He was rather sweaty and thirsty himself, after all…
