Adventures in the Space Between Universes
Someone somewhere down the line had lied. This was supposed to be a simple mission. Go to a location, destroy some Corruption, get out. Not a single person had told Dawnbreaker that he’d be facing a Voidborn covered in Corruption, who was lashing out and flailing wildly. That would have been fine if they were … Read more
The Kentarasa pentacluster was an unusual one. It was mostly empty, apart from the centre, which was filled with many tiny universes and the Life Goddesses that ran them. Outside the Sparkling Aria, Kentarasa had little in it, apart from a Darkspawn, a Voidborn birthing area, to the north, and two Decay Lord sects to … Read more
“Heya, Kuta.” Arkay didn’t look up as Kuta approached, then sat down on the pier next to him. They had just finished their Decayling studies, and since Kuta had done a few Decayling exams already, there was no need to redo them. At the same time, Kuta didn’t have much else to do, and was … Read more
“Well, I’m pretty sure I failed.” “Oh, me too.” “Me three!” “Uh… me four?” Nyssi eyed her fellow Decaylings, then tutted. “We are so lame sometimes.” “Nah, it’s cute!” Kayel smiled. “We’re like four peas in a pod. Best friends forever. Always-friends, like Retvik says. We’re like the perfect team, forever and ever and ever. … Read more
“Hey, Itaviir!” Itaviir glanced down, then glanced to his side. Being the tallest member of the Thantir, the only person he spoke to at eye level was Galyn. So hearing Arkay’s voice and not seeing someone half his size was weird. “Oh, you are being a Beh’en again.” “Heh, yeah. I have shapeshifting powers, might … Read more
“So, what do you all want to eat?” Levik asked as he dragged his new best friends down a long, winding street. Everything was a bit too small, because the Tillian sub-district of Palaestra was mostly meant for Spasts, but towards the end of the street were a few nice, multi-race restaurants ad take-away places. … Read more
“Oh, hello, you’re that Lightblade, right? Saw you at that stupid Justar party.” Phos Astrir, codename Lightblade, one of the leaders of the Phantai, had just exited his ship, flanked by his three personal assistants. But standing before him was a stunning yellow-plated Beh’enu wearing black armour. Phos felt like he knew who this person … Read more
The crowds were wild today. Oddly fickle. Hungry and waiting for more. They all knew something was going on, that some sort of secret was about to be revealed. The match was to be a simple one. A popular Torr gladiator versus the Raptoric Scythe, a newer house fighter, who represented the arenas themselves. Clad … Read more
“You were a teacher once?” Galyn asked as he cradled the baby Beh’evok, trying to get it to go to sleep. “Yep. My career path was kinda weird!” Kayel smiled. He had been on baby-watching duty for the last hour, and Galyn was back to take over. He had tried to persuade Galyn to take … Read more
“I am genuinely concerned about how many vok here want to keep Beh’enlu…” Retvik grunted as he and Litvir filled out some paperwork. It turned out, sect leaders needed to report back to Deathven proper on a regular basis. Galyn used to do this stuff so Retvik and Litvir didn’t need to, but the appearance … Read more
“Hello, Levik.” Tromos Polemistis was the new manager of the Great Arenas, taking over after the Ancient Warlord disappeared during the Sudden Darkness back in November. And despite most important folks thinking he was too fresh for the role, Tromos had actually slightly increased profits, and was genuinely doing a good job. Sure, Tromos wasn’t … Read more
“Alright, kiddo, contract’s signed, you’ve paid up, here are the keys, she’s all yours!” Letharus was trying to remain cool and collected on the outside, but as he clutched the shiny, golden set of keys in his hand, internally, Letharus was insanely excited. He was now the proud owner of a tiny but hardy ship … Read more
Ret and Kuta weren’t supposed to be out and about right now. For reasons unknown, the Thantir had rather strict curfews and bed times for the younger members, as well as an insistence that everyone got five hours of sleep or rest for every fifteen hours they were awake. But for reasons neither Ret nor … Read more
“I do not think I have ever seen Itaviir so damn terrified before…” “Considering that you’ve known Itaviir for a while, that sounds bad.” Retvik had just finished burning some corruption out from a patient, while Kayel had watched on and assisted somewhat, mostly by holding a bottle of Life Goddess blood, which Retvik had … Read more
“Does this happen often?” Arkay asked as he struggled for breath. It turned out that stopping a runaway space ship from crashing into a floating island without damaging anyone or anything was much harder in the space between universes than Arkay expected. But between him, Elkay, Nuh, Gah and Ret, they had managed to stop … Read more
