Decayling Reassurances

“Alright, team chat!”

Vexer had grabbed all his fellow Decaylings and lead them to their classroom. But before he sat everyone down, he put all the stools in a circle and made sure everyone had a drink.

“Are you okay, mister Vexer?” Helkas asked as Vexer sat him down on a particularly high stool.

“Honestly? No idea. But I wanted to get us all together and have us all sit down and talk about things, namely our trial.”

“Are you worried?” Lissandra asked as she curled around her stool and happily accepted whatever weird cocktail Vexer had given her. “You seem worried.”

Vexer slowed down somewhat, then sighed. “It’s not that I’m worried. It’s more that… we don’t really have the… togetherness… that I think we need. Also, I am worried about Helkas.”

“What do you mean by that?” Vokulunaax also asked. “We make a pretty good team.”

“Yeah, we do, but we’re all power and no real finesse. We don’t have anything that unites us. We don’t have a telepath or anything either. So I wanted to get us all together to rectify that. And my very simple solution is that we all promise to keep Helkas safe, because he’s the one who can do everything.”

Atteh’Kus thought for a moment. “I suppose it makes sense. Treat Helkas like our old Life Goddesses. Protect at all costs. Then Helkas can do what is needed. But it depends on our trial. Our trial may be complicated. We may have to solve a puzzle. Or a mystery.”

“Again, that’s why we have Helkas.”

Lissandra tutted. “You’re putting all this shit on the little guy!”

Vexer frowned. “I am, yeah. Because I feel like… I dunno if I have, like, prediction powers or anything, but I feel like, whatever our trial is, Helkas will be the key to solving it.”

Lissandra eyed Vexer. “You don’t have time powers.”

“Maybe Vexer picks things up?” Vokulunaax suggested.

Vexer turned to the mighty Thraki. “What do you mean by that?”

“Well…” Vokulunaax stuttered. “You… you do routinely sleep with Elksia. She is a Time Drake. The same way Tahnahos routinely sleeps with her and seems to have noticeably faster reaction times than he used to.”

“Are you suggesting that Time Drake pussy makes you faster?” Lissandra blinked.

“Um… somewhat, yes. Vexer does have faster reaction times now and I wonder if, because he is also a Vrekan, the same species as Elksia, he gets extra benefits from sleeping with her.”

Vexer wasn’t quite sure how to respond to that statement. “You just said you think I can predict the future better than most because I get laid.”

“Vokulunaax gets laid though!” Lissandra exclaimed. “He gets his ass ravaged by Thassalin on the semi-regular!”

“Where the actual fuck has this conversation gone?” Fragiir muttered. “Vexer wanted to talk about us working together as a team and now we’re discussing whether sex with Time Drakes grants very weak, brief time powers. I mean, it’s a fucking hilarious conversation, but it’s not a particularly useful one. It’s kinda like that time when we discussed whether fucking Yisini or not extends your life. We ended up agreeing with a loose “maybe” because she has also fucked people to death as a punishment for going against her will.”

“She’s a Time Drake now, maybe she does both?” Vokulunaax suggested. “We did after all used to routinely… pleasure her. I also routinely pleasured Epani too, and apparently Epani also developed her own ways to manipulate time.”

Vexer shrugged. “Who knows. What do you lot think? Kayenus, Helkas, you’ve both been quiet.”

Kayenus also shrugged. “I have no thoughts.”

“What’s new there…” Lissandra hissed. “You’re dumb and slow.”

“No, just dumb. I think we all need to think about the trial. Also Helkas looked upset.”

Vexer turned to Helkas. “Oh. Sorry, mate. We totally left you out of that conversation.”

“Yeah, you did!” Helkas was definitely upset. “I don’t know who Yisini or Epani or anyone is, and also I can’t have sex because everyone thinks I’m just a teenager!”

“I thought Elkay said he was going to help you fix that when we do our mall trip?” Vexer asked.

“I mean, yeah, but still… this is all awkward. I feel like an outsider.”

Vexer inspected Helkas, then sighed and apologised. “I’m sorry, kid. But, well, that was the whole point of this meeting, originally. Because I wanted to make you feel more included. And I planned to do that by, well, offering to serve you and protect you, the way we used to serve and protect Life Goddesses in the past. Because you’re basically a Life Goddess but better and you deserve a team of people who will look after you. I mean, with everyone else’s permission.”

Atteh’Kus found himself nodding in agreement. “We are, unfortunately, without a real cause right now. We were at our best when we served the Allbirther. Now, we are floundering.”

“I want to protect pretty little Helkas!” Kayenus suddenly exclaimed. “He is small and cute and needs protecting.”

“I don’t need protecting!” Helkas protested. “I’m a Synaisthyn! I’m one of the most powerful beings here at Savepoint!”

“You aren’t though!” Lissandra argued back. “You’re still learning. You’re a kid. A little baby.”

“I’m not a kid, I’m nearly the same damn age as Arkay!”

“Yeah, maybe, but you are still kinda learning and stuff. I’d say that there’s a lot of folks here who are more powerful than you. Still, would you like six people all willing to do your bidding?” Vexer asked.

Helkas paused. “Like… servants?”

“More like six friends willing to do whatever crazy shit you want to do.”

Helkas settled down. “Whatever… whatever I want?”

“Yeah.”

“Like… I could ask Vokulunaax if I can ride on his back?”

“Yep!”

Helkas thought to himself. “And… you’re all… willing to… like… look after me and do what I want?”

The former Divine Guardians all glanced at each other, then shrugged.

“Yeah, seems like fun!” Lissandra smiled. “Seems like a mutual thing.”

“Well… if you’re all sure…”

“We all sure?” Vexer asked.

Everyone nodded.

“We’re sure.”

Helkas settled down, then smiled properly. “Yeah, sure, why not? Sounds… fun…”
