The Anger of Deities

Two gargantuan platforms flashed into appearance. To the simple beings on the planets below, they looked like small discs, blotting out sections of the sun. Up close, they were round, intricately decorated pads, each one with a single being standing in the middle of them.

One being was a draconic creature, made of silver, with glowing blue stars dotted in its wings, and arrow-shaped horns and armour running down its body. The other was a dark, black, hoofed creature, with tattered antlers and gold plating dotting its massive body.

“Stasis.”

“Kairos.”

“You will not back down.”

“Neither will you.”

“Shame it has to be like this.”

Something flashed between the two beings. A lithe, glowing, white being with gold and silver energy swirling around her feminine body.

“KENOS! KAIROS! What the fuck are you both doing?”

The creature’s voice was high pitched. Its echoes could be felt on the planets below, causing the tiniest of shudders. Kenos, better known as Stasis, and Kairos did not answer, their gazes directed at each other rather than the being interrupting them.

“Are you going to make me repeat myself? Are you?”

Another tiny shudder. Another lack of an answer.

“You are? YOU DARE?”

Finally, Stasis broke his stare and looked at the nimble little being. “Yes, Kinisis, we dare. This is of no concern to you. This is between the Whenvern and myself.”

Infuriated, Kinisis flew up and slapped Stasis across his face. Kairos had no time to take joy in his enemy’s pain, as Kinisis quickly flew over and slapped him too.

“What the fuck are you both planning? Some kind of war? Some stupid thing to usurp me? WHAT ARE YOU DOING?”

“As I just said, my dear, this does not concern you…” Stasis tried to explain. “This is a disagreement between Kairos and myself. It does not concern you in any way.”

“As much as our disagreement angers me, I cannot help but agree with Stasis…” Kairos added. “This is an issue between the two of us, and we shall solve it ourselves. It is for the best that you take no part in this and stick to your duties.”

Kinisis growled, then slapped them both again. “How dare you both treat me like some kind of stupid wench! I am KINISIS. I AM THE CYCLE. And YOU are MEANINGLESS without ME.”

Stasis sighed. He wanted to tell Kinisis the truth, why the personifications of Time and Entropy were in constant battle, but to tell Kinisis of Kairos’s insane ideas would mean informing her of his own plans. Lying was not an option either, Kinisis would see through them both. Instead, all he could do was deflect and hide.

“Kinisis, please. You know we have our disagreements. You do your best to keep us from tearing each other apart, but this is something you cannot currently do. Let us have our disagreements. Let us fix this between ourselves. We will leave your cycle… unharmed…”

“NO YOU WON’T!” Kinisis exploded. “I ALWAYS HAVE TO-”

“This time, you will not, my love…” Kairos held out a caring hand, only for it to be slapped away. Kinisis was furious and their words were not helping.

Whatever it is you two are doing, fucking stop it. Or at the very fucking least, keep the damage to a minimum, and stick to your fucking duties!”

Kinisis slapped both Kenos and Kairos again, before disappearing in a puff of glistening particles.

After a moment of silence, the two deities looked at each other, sighing.

“Are we in agreement of her terms?”

“We are.”

“Very well…” Kairos growled. “May the best of us come out triumphant…”
