“I thought you were above that.”
Galyn twisted around as he closed the office door, looking for the being who had just spoken to him.
“What do you mean by that, Litvir?”
The Decay Lord glanced around, checking the area and scanning it, making sure no one else was around.
“To put it politely, I did not consider you as someone interested in busty, crazy and green Life Goddesses.”
Litvir was leaning rather casually by the door, a faint purple energy rippling from his eyes and hands. To Galyn, the subtle display of power was very slightly threatening.
“It is none of your business,” Galyn hissed. “I do not judge you and your overly greedy group sessions.”
Somehow, Litvir didn’t even flinch at Galyn’s words. He expected Litvir to maybe back off a little bit, but the telepath remained unmoved.
“I will be honest with you, boss, what us four do is not quite the same as what you are doing with Kinisis. We are all of equal rank between each other. However, I am of the opinion that your relationship with Kinisis Allmaker is-”
“The relationship is fine.”
“No, it is not,” Litvir smiled a little. “You are dating a being who could annihilate you in an instant, should she desire it.”
“What makes you say that?”
“Have you seen the leashes she kept on her Divine Guardians? Have you noticed that even the great Dragon God of Time creeps around her? Or how about the way she reacts when the serpentine Allbirther comes to visit?”
Galyn grunted. “She treats them fine.”
“No, she treats them as underlings. She also does the same with you, and will leash you should you stop having a use.”
Galyn hesitated for a moment, then grunted again. “Where is this all coming from, Litvir? You seem particularly… aggressive today. On edge, almost.”
“I am not on edge, just slightly concerned,” Litvir explained. “You have said it yourself, Life Goddesses are not to be messed with, and here you are, having little ‘sessions’ with her on a regular basis. Are you really free, or is she using you?”
“We have an agreeme-”
“That is worth nothing.”
“You are suddenly very much against Kinisis right now, do you realize that?” Galyn hissed. “I am a deity that has existed for thousands upon thousands of years, and you have not even reached the age of one hundred. I know what I am doing. And Kinisis is a more humble, loyal and otherwise good Life Goddess.”
Litvir shrugged. “If you say so.”
“What do you mean by that?”
“Let me ask you this, Galyn. Where is Arkay right now?”
“What does Arkadin have to do with this?”
“The little death god is in a Deathven sector trying to learn how to live a somewhat normal life, utterly scarred and torn apart by what Kinisis put him through. And Arkadin is much older than I am. He knows best how his step-mother works.”
“Arkadin has always been unhinged. He-”
“Arkay had a contract with Kinisis. Multiple contracts. All of which were broken by Kinisis.”
Galyn blinked, letting some of his anger turn into confusion.
“What do you mean?”
“Arkay, Retvik and I were telepathically linked briefly. Long enough though for me to comb through some memories, to see what was causing Arkay’s pain. The reason he is who he is, it’s because Kinisis broke her first contract with Arkay. She offered him 25 years of life then took it away 25 days later. He was basically her slave. Still was, up until our universe blew up.”
The Decay Lord took a long, drawn out breath. “Well… you have convinced me, Litvir. I think I will be more careful with Kinisis.”
“I am glad to hear that,” Litvir smiled as he slipped away via a purple mist. “Thank you for considering my words…”
