Adventures in the Space Between Universes
“Mister Elkay, are you busy right now?” Elkay glanced over his shoulder as he packed up folders of paper and put them into a larger folder, with the label “Past Trials” written on it. He had just dismissed the Decaylings after a two hour long lesson running down a long list of Decay Lord Trials, … Read more
Helkas was getting better at working out who was approaching, from the sound of their footsteps, the crunch of the sand and pebbles under their feet. But for some reason, Elkay was always hard to judge. It was as if his footsteps were always slightly different, or maybe he was even disguising his footsteps. Helkas … Read more
Helkas had been minding his own business, sitting on the edge of Savepoint, making little shiny pebbles for a small pond he was building, when the dark figure had attacked. Well, “attacked” was the wrong word. The being had drawn a blade and approached Helkas from behind, but before it could even consider being an … Read more
All was quiet across Savepoint. The celebrations were over, the guests had left and everything was going back to normal. But there was still some movement. Not everyone had gone to bed. Someone had sneaked out for a midnight snack, but they seemed unable to work out how to use the omnivending machines. Of course, … Read more
“Hello, Helkas, you alright?” Helkas floated awkwardly, not sure how Phovos, the resident Life Goddess of Savepoint, had spotted him. “I… I guess… How did you know I was here?” “You have a specific scent. Everyone does.” Phovos didn’t look up from what she was doing. She was leaning over several plant pots, concentrating on … Read more
Retvik grunted to himself as he fiddled around with the strap on his knee pad. While he loved this particular set of red and gold armour, it was getting old and the buckles were getting a bit weird. As he looked up though, he saw a familiar face. “Oh, hello, Helkas, are you alright?” Helkas … Read more
Retvik grunted to himself as some timid knocking woke him up from his nap. He’d been barely asleep, having only just drifted off, which meant the knocking was enough to snap him back to consciousness. Admittedly, Retvik was only in bed because he was slightly drunk and Litvir had sent him to “horny jail” for … Read more
Arkay wasn’t sure what to expect as he approached the universe. It was ancient, and huge. But the Vast Skin that surrounded it was shielded by a vast about of black cloud, which heavily obscured it. That being said, there was one spot that glowed, clearly as some sort of beacon, and, judging by how … Read more
“Hm…” Retvik looked up from his desk. He was busy going through exam papers, looking at various test score results. It wasn’t really that important a thing that needed doing, but Retvik needed something boring to do after a somewhat busy day of Corruption removals. Apparently a group of Pentathax soldiers bit off more than … Read more
“So, you’re, like, actually a kid?” Helkas blinked, then looked up from what he was doing. He was currently working on reading the first page of a very, very sparkly book, but apparently according to everyone else, it just looked plain. The nice Life Goddess and her strange Voidborn friend (was it a boy or … Read more
“Hey, uh, mister Arkay?” “You don’t need to call me mister.” Helkas had finished his lesson with the big scary Decaylings and wasn’t really sure what to do with himself. But he had seen Arkay walking around with that really big pointy weapon of his, and he’d decided to go and talk to him and … Read more
“This place is pretty!” Helkas seemed excited as he floated out of the ship that had just landed, somewhat unaware that he had floated through a wall. Thankfully, Arkay had seen where he had gone, and also thankfully, Helkas hadn’t gone too far. What confused Arkay though was just how happy Helkas was, even if … Read more
Arkay glanced at his emails, specifically the last email he had just received. He checked it several times, then checked the clock. Once he was satisfied that enough time had passed, Arkay sent a quick telepathic message to Litvir and Retvik, then closed his eyes, concentrated as hard as he could and, finally, snapped his … Read more
“Hate to drag you away from your quiet time, Elkay, but someone’s got to keep an eye on your husband and his gaggle of fuckwits and eventually fly them home…” Arkay tutted as a rather fancy ship landed next to his own ship. Well, technically, Souldrainer’s Plight was Litvir’s ship, but Litvir said Arkay could … Read more
Helkas yawned and stretched out his arms. He felt soft and warm and safe. Not a normal feeling, but a nice, pleasant feeling, one he wasn’t willing to let go of just yet. As he yawned and stretched some more though, he found himself opening his eyes and catching a glimpse of his surroundings. It … Read more
