Macromera Planning

Gath had been sighing and tutting all day, and Retvik wasn’t really sure why. The last week or so had been an absolute blur for Retvik as he was recovering from various injuries, mostly his broken arm, but also a multitude of hospital check-ups and other rather annoying medical tasks. Gath on the other hand had just been chilling out in the hotel room for the last few days, having finished all the tasks he needed to do.

“Is something wrong, dear?” Retvik asked, rubbing ointment on his arms. Where there had once been hard, red armour plating, there was now nothing but bare skin and burn marks, the result of his… most recent misadventure.

“I am just bored, dear…” Gath sighed. “Everything has been sorted out. I resume my duties on the 1st. In the mean time, I have little to do. Especially over the Macromera break.”

“We could find things to do. And… I had completely forgotten about Macromera…” Retvik stuttered. “Did not have any plans, and with all the medication I am currently on, I did not want to think about it.”

“Can we think about it now?” Gath asked, grabbing a chair and sitting opposite Retvik. “I would like something to do.”

Retvik shrugged, finishing with the ointment and beginning with a new one. This cream was supposed to spur armour plating growth, but Retvik didn’t think it was doing anything. The skin cells on his arms were essentially dead. “Of course, Gath. What are you considering we do?”

“I do not know, what do you fancy doing?”

Gath also shrugged. “I think it would be nice to return to Palaestra for one last send-off. Plus, the warm atmosphere will do you good.”

“I guess. Just the two of us?”

“We can invite family. As long as you do not invite Rethais.”

“I am NOT inviting Rethais…” Retvik growled. “It is bad enough with me being injured. I do not need Rethais to rub it in. Nor do I want to deal with his security forces.”

“What about your other brother?”

Retvik paused. “Hm… I have not seen Elkay in a while… Do not even know what he is up to, apart from pretending to be dead.”

“We could have a nice, three day meal with Elkay and his friend. Perhapswe can invite Tenuk and little Psiksi and Kass too.”

Retvik’s mood perked up. “That actually sounds nice. We could get a large Gammog and just cook that up. Roasted first day, cold cuts second day, pie third day.”

“I love Gammog pie…” Gath beamed. “We can spend plenty of time in Palaestra. I do not need to be back here until the 31st and you are now retired, so we have lots of time to relax.”

“I like this plan more and more…” Retvik smiled, then suddenly trailed off. “But… what about Trismit?”

“We can invite him too.”

“Can we?”

“He is retired too, yes?”

Retvik nodded. “Yes, he is. And I think he would enjoy a more… familial Macromera. Or any Macromera at all…”

Gath clapped his hands together. “Wonderful! Trismit can come back with us and we shall gather in Palaestra for a wonderful holiday! I shall call Tenuk, if you could call Elkay, that would be great.”

Retvik smiled again. “Yes, it will be very nice… I cannot wait!”
