Awkward Advice

“You are supposed to be working.”

Litvir shrugged as he sat down next to Relkir, who had been peacefully watching water run down a stream.

“No one is here. The Skyans are keeping watch, in case we get more than zero godly beings passing through. That gives me a chance to talk to you, somewhat privately.”

“Why privately?” Relkir snorted. “You have seemed off ever since Teekay and I landed here. Is that what you wish to discuss?”

“Yes, actually. Your relationship with Teekay seems rather unusual. Especially-”

Relkir turned to Litvir and hissed, wagging a clawed finger in Litvir’s face. “I know that, in the past, I was against interspecies intercourse. I was very against it. But I have grown and changed my mind since then. I wish everyvok would stop telling me!”

Litvir nudged Relkir’s hand to one side. “If you had let me finish my sentence, you would have discovered that I do not want to question your relationship with Teekay, I just want advice.”

“Advice?” Relkir blinked in confusion. “With… with Eksi, I presume?”

“Yes, I want advice. You and Teekay clearly had something happen to you both, to make you bond together. Despite our pleasantries, Eksi and myself have no such connection. But, more importantly, I need to know if my sudden bursts in sexual interest are blinding or deceiving me.”

Relkir stared at Litvir some more, hardly blinking, before managing some sort of answer.

“Uh… blinding and… deceiving you?”

Litvir nodded. “Indeed. Retvik, Arkadin and myself have twice been force-fed sexual emotions. One of those times, Arkadin nearly tore the perpetrator apart, and it is a good thing that Arkadin and Seimeni never got close to each other again.”

“Are you saying that you were all intoxicated in some way? Drugged?”

“Yes.”

“By the weird white being that the Whenvern hangs out with?”

Litvir let out a small laugh. “Yes, actually. We never really discovered why, I just assumed she wanted to make the newbie deities get along, rather than Retvik and I fighting. I suppose her meddling did work in bringing us closer together, but it was not… the most pleasant of times.”

Relkir leaned forward slightly. “That is absolutely monstrous.”

“It is,” Litvir shrugged. “But we did get some sort of compensation. Arkadin went wild and nearly clawed the life out of her, and Seimeni was forced to leave not long after. Seimeni’s death would have been better, but that is taking the easy route…” Litvir trailed off, then grunted. “For a bit though, the emotions stuck around.”

“You and Retvik had a relationship?” Relkir asked. “Akin to the one that I share with Teekay?”

“Oh no, do not be silly!” Litvir explained. “Our sexual interactions were for comfort and distraction, not actual romance. But this is why I am coming to you. Would a relationship with Eksi be immoral or wrong in some way?”

Relkir tutted. “You are an evil mastermind who built an alternate and digital reality from the minds of your fellow Rethavok, but you are coming to me thinking that a relationship is immoral?”

“That is the issue,” Litvir frowned. “I have changed. My mortal life, I spent every possible moment trying to make myself immortal. Now that I have, albeit accidentally, reached immortality, to put it simply, I have no reason to be an asshole any more.”

“Huh…” Relkir wasn’t sure how to answer. “I think… I think I am the wrong being to ask. You would be better off speaking to Eksi yourself, then going from there.”

“You are right, Relkir…” Litvir grunted as he stood back up. “Absolutely right. I will speak to him and, well, hopefully clear things up. Thank you for the advice, Relkir.”

Relkir shrugged. “It is the least I can do.”

“Well, I am going to head off now,” Litvir’s smile returned slightly as he made his way back to the Oasis proper. “I have somevok I need to speak to…”
