Not The Same

“This does not look right…”

Litvir glanced down at the control panel, then looked out the window.

“This does not look right at all.”

“What’s wrong?” Eksi asked, fidgeting in his seat. “The coordinates they gave us were correct. And we can see their ship down there.”

Relkir and Teekay both also looked out of the windows, not really sure what Litvir was talking about.

“Is something wrong?”

Litvir grunted. “The wall of dead Voidborns is still here, but that large, black castle above the villa definitely was not there the last time I was in this place.”

“You think someone or something has claimed this place for their own?” Teekay asked.

“Almost certainly. That black castle is blatantly ominous. If I were a betting vok, I would say that it is definitely claimed by a Voidborn. After all, when I was last here, there were a LOT of Voidborn trying to break in.” Litvir paused for a moment. “Although I think those Voidborn were going after the Life Goddess that used to live here, rather than claiming the villa as their own.”

“So do we go down there or what?” Eksi was unsure. “I mean, the other guys are all down there too, right? Their ship is nicely parked at the bottom. Surely they’ve probably just gone inside or something? Or am I being too reasonable and optimistic?”

Teekay shrugged. “A bit of optimism can’t hurt. I think we should land and take a look.”

Relkir glanced at Teekay. “You are very optimistic today.”

“I know. But I have my fingers crossed that this isn’t anything too stressful, and we will find them somewhat easily.”

“Yeah, they’re probably fine!” Eksi chirped. “Probably just exploring, like they always do.”

Litvir sighed, then relented. “Fine. We will land. But I am still going to relay this information back to home base. Just in case.”

With another sigh, Litvir tapped a couple of buttons and the ship began to descend, moving towards the other parked ship. A light whirring sound could be heard as the landing gears extended, followed by a small bump as they hit the reasonably solid ground. Once they had settled, Litvir then reached over to the communications panel and tapped out a quick message.

“We have landed and found Retvik’s ship, we will be looking around for the Dessaron themselves.”

After a brief moment, a new message appeared.

“Positive. Give confirmation when you have found them.”

“Affirmative.”

Satisfied, the communication panel beeped and shut off, and Litvir undid his seatbelt, ready to get up.

“You all ready?” Eksi smiled as he also undid his seat belt and stretched. “Shall we get our gear on?”

Litvir nodded. “Yes, it is time to go. We need to be careful though, we cannot really tell what we are wandering into.”

“I recommend we stick to telepathic conversations,” Relkir suggested. “We do not want to make too much noise.”

“Good point.” Teekay nodded in agreement. “We should probably try and keep a low profile. Even if we just parked next to the Dessaron’s ship.”

Eksi clapped his hands together. “Alright! Let’s get going! I’m sure it’ll all be fine.”
