Waking Up Happy

“You need a much bigger bed…” Kairos grunted as he rolled off the bed and onto the floor. He hadn’t meant to do that and thought he’d looked silly, but Phovos had simply giggled.

“It’s meant for just me, silly.”

“Well, if we’re going to be doing normal boyfriend and girlfriend things, you’re going to need a much bigger bed.”

Phovos shrugged as she too rolled out of bed and landed cleanly next to Kairos. She liked having her bed against the wall, made her feel more secure. Then again, having the God of Time share a bed with her also made her feel very safe.

Kairos picked himself up and took a moment to orientate himself. Really, considering how rich and powerful Phovos was supposed to be, her house was quite… small. Clearly it wasn’t meant for a massive dragon like himself, but even by Ksithan standards, it was insanely average. Aside from the fact that it had five bedrooms. In fact, the whole place seemed… eerily familiar.

“You alright there?” Phovos asked. She was wearing a long-sleeved baggy top and a long pair of fluffy pyjama bottoms. That was what she slept in. She looked really cute. Kairos had slept in the nude, but he was a dragon, he was always nude. Phovos hadn’t seemed to mind though.

The Whenvern shook his head, blinking a little too much. “Was lost in thought.”

“What were you thinking about?” Phovos prodded Kairos as she squeaked past to get to the bedroom door. She headed down the hallway and into the living room and kitchen area.

“Lots of things.”

“Like what?”

“Like the fact your house looks just like Arkadin’s new place…” Kairos rubbed his eyes, being careful not to knock things down with his wings. “Like, it’s exactly the same except you’re not as messy as he is.”

Phovos shrugged. She went to the cupboard, grabbed a bowl, went to another cupboard then poured herself some meat flakes.

“You don’t want me to cook you breakfast?” Kairos asked.

“You’re in my house, if you want a cooked breakfast, I’ll do it for you. But I just want this.”

“I’m not hungry though…” Kairos paused. “Actually, aside from spending time with other beings, I don’t really eat at all.”

“You don’t seem to sleep at all either…” Phovos leaned on the side, spooning flakes of thin meat jerky into her mouth.

Kairos didn’t answer at first, he was too busy looking at Phovos and how cute she was. Soft and squidgy, not at all perfect. Most Ksithans were insanely thin, all muscle and gristle, with perfect breasts and hips, but there Phovos was, chubby and adorable.

“Kairos.”

“Sorry?”

“You’re staring.”

“You’re so darn cute though. I can’t help it.”

Phovos smiled, then repeated her question. “You didn’t sleep much. In fact, I’m pretty sure I heard you mutter something about Arkadin while I slept.”

Kairos sighed. “Yeah, sorry about that. He said something to me, something about Yisini doing something dumb, then went silent. I think I might go and check on him a bit later.”

“You think he’s in trouble?”

“No, probably just pissed off…” Kairos trailed off, then grinned. “He can wait though, I want to spend more time with you…”
