Kayess-En “Kass” Viodou is a prominent member of Retha Squad One, one of the current top Dessaron Teams, and has consistently kept his teams among the top ten since his debut in the Dessaron Battle System in 2003.
Kayess-En is a Threan-type Rethan, standing at 1.96m tall and weighing 130kg. He has Ksa-level telepathy and telekinisis, specializing in force-fields and large-scale movement, while struggling with minute detailing and accuracy. Kass has nearly pitch black skin with purple organic armour. Kass’s eyes are purple and glow brightly in the dark. On top of his organic armour, Kass wears varying coloured armour depending on his mood, generally either chrome or gun metal, with a purple or black tummy wrap and a long, flowing purple scarf.
Kass is an all-round fighter like many Ksa. He prefers to not use traditional Rethan gunstaffs, but instead uses a large, solid steel broad sword that he forged himself. The sword, which he calls “Gravity’s Blade”, weighs nearly as much as Kass does, but he uses his telekinetic powers to lessen the load. In combat, Kass wields the sword one-handed, and often extends the telekinetic field around it, using Gravity’s Blade more like a mace than a sword.
Kass’s parents are unknown, and the newborn Kayess-En was taken to the Koristo Stratos for Abandonees by his aunt, Tegan Viodou, who found the kid abandoned on her doorstep. He was born in September 1981 and trained in the basic Rethan Stratos, before being unusually taken out and placed in Ksa Training as a backup for both S-Class and N-Class Ksa. He was put on hold and allowed to pursue a normal life in 1995, when the new Vice General came into power and the S-Class Ksa were relocated elsewhere.
Between 1995 and 2002, Kass moved to Portalia to start a new life and held a variety of jobs, most notably working as a security guard for the Palaestra Arena, and as a secretary for the local Generals of Hertany. It was the former job that caught the attention of Gath Tsoriou, who had forcibly retired as a general and was starting up a Rethan team. The two became good friends and formed a team called Void-Gen, alongside the relatively unknown Kazix Steviou and former arena champion Venetean Viktarios.
Kazix was later hired to be a commentator for Palaestra TV and the team continued for until November 2004, hiring subs, until Venetean retired from the Dessaron Battle System due to illness and age, forcing the team to go on hiatus. Two subs stood out, Kohgrah Maouron and Vel Konztantin. Both were hired and, after suddenly skyrocketing to the top 3 teams, with an impressive seven wins in a row, Kass renamed the team Retha Squad One. He currently runs the team himself, acting as team leader and coordinator and using his high level telepathy to his advantage.
The team’s success is ongoing, having only slipped out of the top ten active teams twice, due to using subs, although Kass put the team on hiatus recently, due to the Soul Rupture and other, personal reasons. Vel and Kohgrah are currently working alongside Retha Squad Three.
Kass is outgoing, proud and occasionally boastful, unusual for a Threan-type. He enjoys the fame that his team has brought him, but dislikes being crowded. He also enjoys wandering into uncharted territory and mapping out unknown areas. He is currently single, although Kass has stated that he is interested in somevok, but he hasn’t stated who.
